Facebook likes and comments reduce exam stress among students, says study

Have you ever heard that the number of supportive likes and comments on Facebook can reduce the exam stress? Yes, it is true, according to the latest research conducted by the University of Illinois in U.S.A., it is proved that those who get supportive comments and likes from Facebook friends for their posts will have less stress before exams.

Nearly 21 percent of the stress of students will get declined with the positive comments and likes from their friends on Facebook before exams. The research was conducted by the students and they have performed a seven-minute expressive writing exercise.

A graduate student Robert Deloatch at the University said the study proved that nearly 41 percent of students suffer from nervousness and anxiety before exams. This type of anxiety will happen because of physiological and emotional responses which appear while taking or preparing for a test. It leads to low grades in the test and poor memory in examinations.

It also revealed the anxiety is equal to the performance of students in the examinations. This kind of anxiety will mostly affect the computer science exams of students. During this study, the students were asked to solve the two programming problems by writing and running codes. The researchers have measures that their anxiety test levels through the Cognitive Test Anxiety scale. The students also filled two questionnaires, which helps to measure the anxiety levels of them.

The researchers also made the students indulge in the Facebook likes and comments engagement. The researchers found that the students who have received the supportive messages from their pals showed fewer anxiety levels and also best performance in examinations.

Facebook Unveils Group Payments Feature in its Messenger Platform

Facebook has unveiled group payments feature which allows users to pay either individual members or everyone in the group. This Facebook group payments feature has gone live in the US on Tuesday in Android and Desktop platforms. There is no info about the app launching on iOS platform.

Users can request payments from the group right in chat by entering the amount they want to request from each person. However, the total amount to be divided among the group members evenly. They can also mention a note describing what money is for.

“Simply tap on the plus sign in the bottom left-hand corner of a group conversation to find more features, and tap the payments icon ($). Then, choose who to send or request money from. You can choose everyone in the group or only a few members. Enter the amount you want to request per person or the total sum to divide evenly, either including yourself in the calculation or not.

Finally, you can specify what the money is for - maybe a pizza party, teacher gift or more. Once you’re ready, tap Request.” Facebook explains about how to use the feature.

Facebook now allows its desktop users to go live using their webcam. Earlier, this Facebook live feature is made available only for pages that too on mobile devices. Later it rolled out to individuals and now here is the Facebook live on desktop. The social networking giant is making a great push towards it streaming videos on its platform.

Now, the Facebook desktop site also get a live video button for streaming video. Earlier, the option is only provided for the pages. Flipkart comes together with Facebook for a faster performance of their apps

Flipkart is reportedly working with Facebook for a faster performance of their apps and websites. The collaboration to work on slower networks and low-cost smartphones getting slowdown or the need for updates.

“I am working with Facebook to converge our solution — which allows users to skip updates to apps — and there is a platform called React Native to see if we can share each other’s learnings and make one unified product for the developer community to leverage,” said Amar Nagaram, vice president of engineering, Flipkart.
