Indian Railways new app to incorporate all rail-related services at one platform

HindRail mobile app

HindRail Mobile app: Indian Railways is planning to answer all train travel-related queries through one mega-application. HindRail Mobile app (suggested name) will incorporate most of the existing railway apps. The Indian Railways new app will serve as full-fledged inquiry system providing information for passengers.

The information which HindRail mobile app provides include departures, arrivals, delays, cancellations, running status, platform number and berth availability.

On the other hand, HindRail app also offers taxis bookings, room renting services, porter services, tour packages, e-catering services and all other travel needs. Indian Railways will offer these services on a revenue-sharing model with service providers.

As a result, the app is expected to have a business potential of Rs 100 crore every year by acting as a revenue-earning platform for the public transporter. The railways is often accused of not getting reliable information about train running status. Passengers’ complaints are always flooded particularly when trains run late.

Railway Board member (traffic) Mohd Jamshed acknowledges that there are problems in providing accurate information on delays. But, he also claims that the new app will fix all these issues.

“The new app will be launched in June, and it will not only give you information, you can also track trains through it,” he said.

Indian Railways operates many apps to provide various services which include complaint management system as well. The National Train Enquiry System (NTES) app provides inquiry facility. IRCTC operates another app for e-catering services, and there are few other apps for booking reserved and unreserved tickets.

Interestingly, you’ll find all these services integrated into the proposed app. However, the name of the app is yet to be finalized. “We have to give a suitable name for it, but it has not been decided as yet.“ says, Jamshed.

So far, it is reliably known that the name ‘HindRail’ is being considered for the new app. Also, there are few other suggestions like MeriRail, ERail, MyRail and Rail Anubhuti.
