Indian Railways to launch Content on Demand (CoD) and rail radio services for passengers

Worried about missing all you favorite TV stuff when in a train? Indian railways now to provide entertainment content to your personal devices like smartphones, tablets, and laptops. Indian railways ministry has invited bids for Content on Demand (CoD) and rail radio services for travelers from April.

Indian Railways has come a long way in following the latest trends over the past couple of years. Recently, the venture between Indian Railways and Google provides free Wi-fi services for more than 400 railway stations. This new Content on Demand (CoD) and rail radio services provides you access to movies and TV shows.

Besides this go through internet service, companies like Vodafone, Airtel, hotstar, etc. can bid their interest to offer entertainment services for passengers. However, this CoD and rail radio services will be rolled out in phases as per the tender document.

The passengers can make use of Wi-fi service and avail CoD on the personal devices which make them less boring. The licensee will offer both free and paid content of which customers can choose as per their choice. Also, this may generate more views and revenue which eventually benefit the service providers. On the other hand, there are some restrictions too, the service provider shall only provide U, U/A, PG-rated video content.

Indian Railways Now Allows Booking the Short Distance Tickets on Long Distance Trains

As per the recent announcement, Railway Minister has lifted the restrictions on issuing the short distance tickets for the Sleeper and Ac coaches of the long distance trains. Earlier, short distance passengers are not allowed to get the reservation in Mail and the Express trains for the longer distance routes.

Indian Railways is having long distance routes and short distance train routes. The users are now allowed to book the train tickets from anywhere to anywhere since it is computerised. The main reason behind this new announcement is, for the long distance trains a large number of berths are booked for the short travel. This leads in affecting the seat availability for the long distance travellers. To avoid this distance restriction, this new scheme has introduced.

According to one of the Senior Railway Officer says “This would often force a passenger intending to travel to closer stations to book a ticket for a longer distance.”

According to the notice dated Jan 5,2017 this decision is applicable for only the reserved class, and the status Quo can prevail for the second class travel for preventing further over-crowding in the latter.

Indian Railways had come up with innovative ideas for generating revenues, and as a part of that, the organization is giving offers to big banks for installing their ATMs. According to the latest reports, Indian Railways team has already allocated space for establishing 2000 ATMS and the details have been shared with the concerned bank officials.

There will be a contract period of 10 years via e-auction process. As per latest reports from closed sources, IRTCT will soon establish on-demand entertainment services on the running trains to generate more non-fare revenues. Advertisements will showcase through vinyl paintings on train exterior and interior of coaches including AC coaches also, moreover installation of the major electronic billboards on platforms and use the foot-over-bridges for advertisements by major brands.

RRB NTPC 2nd Stage Call Letter 2016

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) published the notification of CEN 03/2015 Non-Technical Popular category (Graduate-Level) posts and invited the online applications. A huge number of candidates who are eagerly waiting for the latest railway jobs have applied. The board conducted the 1st stage exam and now they released the RRB NTPC 2nd Stage Call Letter 2016.

Candidates who qualified for the 2nd Stage Computer-based Test can now download the respective RRB NTPC CEN 03/2016 Admit card. The Board has made the download link available on the regional RRB official websites. The board scheduled the 2nd stage CBT on 17th, 18th and 19th January 2017.
