MTNL Offers 2GB of 3G Data per Day

With Reliance Jio Prime Membership effect, many telecom operators have announced the new plans of both voice and data. The State-Run service providers MTNL and BSNL are also in the list of offering 3G data and unlimited voice calls.

According to the reports, MTNL is now offering the 2GB of 3G data, and unlimited voice calls within the network for 28 days with a recharge of Rs. 319. Customers have to recharge with the same price for a subsequent month if they wish to continue with the same tariff plan.

This MTNL plan is currently available for MTNL subscribers in Mumbai and Delhi circles. As a counterpart to Reliance Jio Prime, the company launched the new plan by offering 1GB extra data than Reliance Jio.

“This promotional offer is valid for 90 days. MTNL customers will also get 25 minutes of a free call to other networks every day, and after that, they will be charged 25paise for a minute phone call,” said by the official.

The Indian Telecom Operator, BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) announced Rs. 249 plan. Under this plan, customers can avail 10GB of data per day and unlimited free calls to any network from 9 AM to 7 AM on Sundays. Earlier, the telecom operator launched Rs. 339 plan by offering 2GB of 3G data per day with a validity period of 28 days.

“BSNL is the only operator who is offering cheapest “10 GB per day” data download plan underwire line Broadband services in the country,” said NK Gupta.

MTNL May Soon Offer VRS of Rs. 1000 Crore to 5000 Employees

Mahanagar Telecom Nigam Limited (MTNL) has announced that they are planning to provide Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) to their employees. According to the reports, the company is going to offer VRS of Rs. 1000 crore following the approval of Telecom Commission, the highest policy-making body of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) in April 2016.

“We will soon send a note to the Cabinet for approval of MTNL’s VRS plan. The Telecom Commission recommended it in April this year, but there has been no movement since then. It’s a part of the revival plan for the telecom PSU (public sector unit), and the first stage is Cabinet approval,” said by a senior official from the ministry.

As per the reports, around 5000 employees are likely to be opting for Voluntary Retirement Scheme, and this would lead to Rs. 400 to Rs. 500 crore savings every year for Mahanagar Telecom Nigam Limited. This move is taken to free up the particular resources and to make more investment in Network.

“Stagnant revenues and a high employee structure are the biggest problem areas for MTNL. Telecom is a sector which needs to fix investment for modernisation. But, on the contrary, capital expenditure in MTNL is quite less. There are also assets which need to monetize,” the official added.

BSNL is Planning to Introduce Free Voice Calls Cheaper than Reliance Jio

The State-run Telecom Operator also plans to invest Rs. 2000 crore over next two to three years to upgrade and expand its network. Currently, this network is struggling to survive hard in the competition market.

Mahanagar Telecom Nigam Limited is a state-owned telecommunications service provider in the metro cities of Mumbai, New Delhi and the island nation of Mauritius in Africa. MTNL posted in June about the loss of 718.02 crores, and the total income decreased from 4.5% to 744.72 crores.

BSNL Plans to Provide Super Fast 4G Services by Next Financial Year


Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited(BSNL), state-owned telecom firm, is planning to launch 4G services from the next financial year. BSNL 4G services will be set up in 14 telecom circles across the country.

Minister of state for communication said that the company would not be participating in the upcoming 4G spectrum auction due to financial and other reasons.

“BSNL plans to upgrade its network for 4G GSM services through tender. Based on the outcome of the bid, tentatively BSNL 4G services may launch progressively during the next financial year (2017-18),” Sinha said.

The minister further added that Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) does not have immediate plans of launching the 4G services as it has already surrendered 2300 MHz band spectrum.

BSNL is planning to install the 4G base tower stations in the existing GSM’s so there will be no additional expenses for installing new towers. And when asked about the device ecosystem, he said that there are some 4G handsets in the market like Apple, Motorola, Lenovo, Google, Micromax, etc

According to a senior BSNL official, launch of 4G services in a 2,500Mhz band is feasible and commercially remunerative for the company. BSNL has soft launched 4G in Chandigarh this January and demonstrated 35Mbps speed.

Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular have started their 4G services in various cities and now BSNL going to enter the sector. Reliance jio Infocom will be joining the 4G market soon, to intensify the market competition.
