Indian sports persons at failed to win a medal in the final events at Rio Olympics which was very disappointing for the country. India is yet to open its account after completion of the third day.

Shooting:

High expectations on Indian shooters Abhinav Bindra and Gagan Narang fetched no medal to the country in 10m air rifle shooting.

London Olympics bronze-medallist Gagan Narang ended in 23rd position couldn’t make into the finals.

However, Abhinav Bindra made till final but ended with 0.1 points miss at the fourth position. Ukraine’s Serhiy Kulish who competed with Bindra took silver. Gold was claimed by Italian Niccolo Camprian.

I am done with shooting, even hobby shooting,” said Abhinav Bindra disappointed after his event at Rio.

Archery:

Indian archer Laxmirani Majhi lost in the women’s individual archery event after loosing to Slovakia’s Alexandra Longova at 1-7.

Now all the hopes lie on other two archers from India, Bombayla Devi and Deepika Kumari who will compete on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.

Men’s trap shooting:

In men’s trap shooting  Manavjit Singh Sandhu and Kynan Chenai ended up at 16th and 19th positions failing to qualify for the semi-finals.

Men’s archery:

Athanu Das showed a good performance and finished in the fifth place in the qualifying round. He will be competing with 60th ranked candidate in the qualification round to move further.

Men’s hockey:

After going for a great win against Ireland, the team had to face a defeat of 1-2 to Germany at Rio. However, the team will have four more games to go. Hope that hockey team may bag a final win for India.

Women’s hockey:

Indian women’s hockey team also fell short against great Britain in a second match at 3-0 loss. India will be facing Australia in the next match scheduled on Wednesday.
