Haryana government has been encouraging sportspersons in the past and now in India The Latest announcement yet again proves the state government’s respect to Geeta Phogat and Ram Lal.
On 19th Oct 2016, Haryana state cabinet has announced the decision of appointing international woman wrestler. Geeta Phogat will be appointed as the Deputy Superintendent of Police (SP) under the sports quota.
The Cabinet also approved the proposal of appointing the mountaineer, Ram Lal as Sub-Inspector (SI) under the sports quota.

The Cabinet decisions were passed onto the state Police department. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has approved all the proposals made by the Home department in this regard.
Geeta Phogat is a graduate and a sports person. She has gained the international reputation. She bagged a gold medal in wrestling at the 19th Commonwealth Games-2010 held in New Delhi.
Recognizing the pride and honor she gained for India, the Haryana state government has rewarded with SP post.

Earlier some International and national award winners have been rewarded by the Haryana state at various levels of Police department. Vijender Singh who bronze medal winner at Olympics. Boxer was also recruited as a police officer at the state level.
In many other parts of India, it is pride for the state governments to honor the athletes and sports personnel who have made Indian feel proud by winning the medals. This is an additional honor that is rewarded by the states in addition to the Central government appreciations. Rewards and awards are, however, nowhere comparable to the satisfaction obtained in winning the medals for India.
This statement has been stated by almost all the athletes till date who have participated and won the medals.
