Beloved image sharing community Imgur is getting some upscale new features. Team Imgur has announced few of their most highly requested features in the app. The desktop site also gets some improvements as well. The update provides the ability to chat with more than 150 million monthly active users. Imgur now allows following others and updating account settings right from their phones.
As the users of the platform are always looking for new ways to interact, Imgur promotes GIFs, posts, emojis, and, of course, messages to your friends. The company aims these latest features helps taking the community building to another level.
“We’re really excited to help them become aware of when new content from their favorite fellow Imgurians makes it to Most Viral, and to give them the ability to chat in real time with other Imgurians right in the mobile apps,” says, Sarah Schaaf, Imgur’s head of the community.
There are many ways to start chatting: chat via comment, visit a user profile, tap the share icon, or search for a username in chat. It also allows you to stop receiving unwanted messages from any user now. You can block any user by tapping on the cog icon inside the conversation in the upper right-hand corner to open the conversation settings. You can also check blocked users from the ‘Manage Blocked Users list’ in the main chat menu.
To manage the notifications, visit the app settings. Desktop user’s past messages before the update are now available in read-only mode in their account settings. Users can continue the conversation on the new system by searching friend’s username and start with a new chat. Unfortunately, messaging is no longer available on the Imgur mobile website.
