Viv challenges Siri with first on-stage demo

Viv, a virtual assistant with Artificial Intelligence, was demoed on stage at an event named Disrupt Hackathon 2016 in New York City. The live demo of the next generation voice assistant was impressive and received applauds from the crowd seated below.

Creators of Apple’s Siri Adam Cheyer &Dag Kittlaus along with a team, had made this future virtual assistant integrating with different services. As they had already stated about its demo last week, working performance was shown on live stage. Kittlaus introduces Viv to the audience present at the event.

The presentation carried out in a way that the co-founder of Viv started asking different questions regarding the weather to which the AI voice assistant had responded very quickly with accurate answers. Mr.Kittlaus had given some tasks on voice to Viv, which were performed in a very less time.

He also explained the working process of Viv, which differs from most of the existing virtual assistants. As most of them rely on hard code finds tough to decode when different accent or typical questions are given. Such problems do not occur with Viv since it is capable of generating its code quickly by picking up keywords and information points. It will be functioning as a personal assistant in the case of Interpretation and decoding.

Kittlaus called Viv as “software that’s writing itself”. Due to this ability to generate dynamic code, it can scale extremely quickly, adapts to the accent of the users and queries thrown at it, rather than relying on the built-in system. He described that the personal assistant’s success is mainly due to the integration with third-party services like Uber and Venom.

On speaking about the rumours of Viv’s acquisition he said that “Yeah you’ve heard about them, you can read about it probably.”The founders of Viv had already turned down the offers regarding the acquisition made by the Tech giants and expressed their decision to travel alone.

During the presentation, he showed the internal working of the virtual voice assistant. He quoted that” For consumers Viv is the Intelligent interface to everything whereas for developers it’s the next major marketplace and channel for offering content, commerce and services.

The third party mobile application is at the final stage of development and expected to launch by the end of this year.

As of today, everyone is well aware of the voice assistants which all the leading platforms are providing. Most popular of them are Apple’s Siri and Cortana of Windows. Now a new voice-based virtual assistant which works on Artificial Intelligence is on the cards and would be unveiled within a week. Siri was third party application before acquisition by the Tech giant. It was developed by Dag Kittlaus and Adam Cheyer who now are working for the new virtual assistant called Viv.

About one-third of the team who are behind Siri app left Apple differing them regarding the functionalities of Siri. Now all of them are under one roof working for the new project. The concept of Viv was started in 2003 and its functionality is far better than the Siri.

Viv is built on Siri’s foundation but it is even more powerful because of its Artificial Intelligence technology. It can do various things and go well ahead of the apple’s assistant regarding performance. The new AI assistant would more flexible and would give the feel of a human assistant. It was developed with a vast database along with the significant partnerships of third party services.

Siri’s creators Dag Kittlaus and Adam Cheyer had integrated these kinds of functionalities in Siri but later trimmed by the Apple management as they have different views. They are planning to avail Viv to various platforms as a part of their goals and they don’t want to repeat the mistake of selling it to others as they have done in the case of Siri.

It is reportedly known that Facebook and Google had already trying to own Viv due to its high potential. The developers of Viv are still working on the new technology and want their new assistant inside TV’s and cars. More information would pop out soon as Viv would be revealed to the world on May 9 at an event called Major Industry Conference.

DBS Bank becomes India’s first mobile-only bank, uses AI-based virtual assistant targeting 5 million customers.

Development Bank of Singapore is currently operating around 12 branches in tier-1 cities. DBS has the target of expanding to 50 branches by 2018. DBS unveiled digibank, India’s first mobile-only bank, targeting 5 million retail customers. The bank said Digibank will bring together the ground breaking technology from biometrics to artificial intelligence for customers.

Digibank is breaking the norm of banking with their cumbersome processes and onerous form-filling, to a signature less, paperless and branch less bank.

Because of some policies under Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA), Singapore did not allow Indian banks viz., State Bank of India and ICICI Bank to grow its reach in their market. As a reciprocal strategy, Indian government stopped the expansion of DBS bank into its retail operation in India.

Users no need to wait for OTP and type it in to authorize the transaction because it done automatically.

DBS takes 90 seconds to open an e-wallet, without the need of any signatures or paper. This e-wallet will also offers discounts and coupons at select merchants.
