Bad news for Whatsapp users. The Giant messaging app will not be providing their services to a few smartphones after December 31, 2016. Whatsapp officially confirmed the news, and if you are using older smartphones, this year-end would likely be the last date for you to use Whatsapp.
Whatsapp is the most popular messaging application which is using by more than 95 percent people in India. If you have a smartphone, undoubtedly Whatsapp is the first application to install in it. The App is using by all smartphones users globally to send Text Messages, Photos Audio, and video files. However, bad news is that few smartphone users won’t be access to Whatsapp by the end of this year. Latest update is that few older smartphones with different Operating Systems will not be able to use Whatsapp by December 31, 2016.
According to the statement released by the popular Messenger earlier this year, the messaging app will no longer have support for a few Windows, Symbian, BBOs, Android and IOS operating systems. However these phones completely blocked Whatsapp, but they may lose many upcoming features.
Whatsapp had already announced that December 31, 2016, will be the last day to provide services to some older smartphones. The smartphones having older OS’s like Android, IOS, Windows, BBOs and Symbian will be affected. The move from Whatsapp came due to an increase of using smartphones rather than feature phones. Mobile market Predictions said that from 2017, feature phones would be surpassed by the smartphones from next year to put an end to feature phones completely.
Here is the list of mobile platforms that Whatsapp messenger will end its support by the end of this year.
- Nokia S40
- Nokia Symbian S60
- Android 2.1 and Android 2.2
- Blackberry including Blackberry 10
- Windows Phone 7.1
- Iphone 3gs/ios 6
If you are using above mentioned mobile platforms, then you are affected and won’t get Whatsapp updates and features in future. We firmly recommend that people using these older mobile platforms are advised to upgrade to the latest version to remain using Whatsapp in future.
