Tatkal Tickets Online: IRCTC Announced Pay on Delivery Scheme for Tatkal Tickets

IRCTC has announced a new facility to online Tatkal Users. Now we can book Tatkal ticket online first and pay later through the new payment option Pay on Delivery (PoD). Under this new scheme IRCTC passengers who book their tickets online can receive their confirmed Tatkal ticket at their door steps.

The Indian Railways (IRCTC) has teamed up with the Anduril Technologies Pvt Ltd to provide door step delivery process. Until now the Pay on Delivery option is only available for booking General reservations.

The use of payment gateway will make passengers book their Tatkal ticket with in few seconds. IRCTC reportedly books over 130,000 Tatkal transactions every day via the standard online payment gateways where the users have to pay first after the Tatkal quota opens.

Anurag Bajpai, CEO at Anduril Technologies said, “Pay on delivery (PoD) for Tatkal tickets is going to be a huge benefit to for millions of train travellers who need to book under the Tatkal quota. Users already understand that every second is precious while booking a train ticket under Tatkal and we are confident that the option to book first, pay later will find significant adoption among users.”

IRCTC Will Soon Launch Digital India PCO at 500 Remote Railway Stations

Anduril Technologies provide PoD service to over 4000+ pin codes across the country. In the case of the cancellation of the ticket before the delivery, the users have to pay the cancellation charges and delivery charges. In he/she fails to do so, IRCTC will deactivate the user account, and strict action will be taken.

Steps to avail IRCTC Pay-on-Delivery Option:

  • The user should register in irctc.payondelivery.co.in first
  • They need enter either Aadhaar or PAN card details at the time of registration.
  • The passenger should choose Pay-on-Delivery option while booking the ticket at IRCTC portal.
  • The Digital delivery happens via SMS/e-mail
  • Collection of the amount will be done within 24 hours.

IRCTC users can also pay online through a payment link that will be sent to them at time of booking.

IRCTC website down: The Indian Railways Online Ticket Booking website and IRCTC Mobile App has Gone down for more than 2 hours on Tuesday June 20, leaving thousands of passengers and users facing inconvenience. Unable to book tickets, Passengers were seen queued up in major Railway Stations. The Un-Expected and Sudden Shutdown of both App and Rail Portal during the middle of the day made people suffer. An Error message was seen on the IRCTC online Portal saying

“Due to some system maintenance works the railway online ticket booking website was down. The Website was seen displaying a message ” DUE TO MAINTENANCE ACTIVITY E-TICKETING SERVICE IS NOT AVAILABLE. PLEASE TRY LATER.FOR CANCELLATION/FILE TDR, PLEASE CALL AT CUSTOMER CARE NO. 011-39340000,011-23340000 OR MAIL AT etickets@irctc.co.in.”

The Exact time for the Maintenance of the official portal has not been mentioned and this left passengers in confused state of mind.

Indian Railways is soon to be launching a digital contract to improve the business and transparency. 100% of E-tenders and E-auctions already started the system. The main aim of this digitization is for the flexibility and fast flow of material, information, etc.

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu announced that a digital contract would be launched for the flow of supply chain on April 11th for the ease of stakeholders including industries, stakeholders, financial institutions and internal customers. The system will digitize all the manual processes in railways like bill submission, inspection, dispatches, receipts and bill passing and bill payments, warranty monitoring and the use of analytics and increase the supply chain system efficiently.

Railway Ministry Official stated that the Digitization of the supply chain is a tool for efficient, fast, transparent and seamless transactions.

Indian Railway is a vast system and to manage everything digitally the system should be even more robust, secure and efficient, The supply chain involves an enormous expenditure of Rs. 50000 crores per annum and also generates a massive business and employment upstream. A railway official said that the system also helps to link budgets with outcomes. “This paperless digital contract management system where all the bids are made online and electronically is nothing but a new era in Railways. We completed the trail run, and we are so excited to launch the system as soon as possible.”Suresh quoted.

An official claimed even the acceptance letter is also made digital with this system leading us forward to a digital decision system.The new supply chain digitization would focus more on the integration of information, physical flows, financial flow between our Railways and the supply chain organizations. The system made every business process in the supply chain management digital including the processes handled by different stakeholders.

The supply chain management is maintained by one online website which can handle a business of up to Rs. 50000 crore through 100 percent E-tenders. It can handle Rs. 2500 crore auctions through 100 percent E-auctions every annum. Not only them but also that can handle 52000 registered vendors, their supplies, 2664 registered bidders and the supply chain efficiently.

The whole system will be regulated from the headquarters located at 17 zonal railways and eight production units with over 300 field locations. Any change in the supply chain needs to be innovative and sophisticated. In the last few years, the Railways supply chain management is experiencing rapid changes with the e-tendering, e-auctions, and the whole decision-making process.

IRCTC is planning to launch the Railwire Saathi scheme across 500 Remote Railway Stations where people can access to Wi-Fi hotspot and many other services.

Nowadays, the technology has transformed the society in a way that most of the people across the country who are using the internet are in large numbers. The Railwire Saathi kiosks will function like Digital India PCO which allows the people to use the services like

Now Waitlisted Passengers Can Get Confirmed Tickets through IRCTC Vikalp Scheme

In addition to this, IRCTC (Indian Railways Catering and Transport Corporation) also provide services like automated form filling, DTH recharge and other mobile services. The railways are planned to launch the Railwire Saathi in 500 Remote Railway Stations with limited connectivity.

The Digital India PCO aims to offer job opportunities in rural areas and also to provide the connectivity to the unconnected. The IRCTC is also in plans to equip about 400 stations with the free WiFi services in association with Google. According to the reports, the Railwire Saathi will be expected to be operational by the month of May.

Now Waitlisted Passengers Can Get Confirmed Tickets through IRCTC Vikalp Scheme

Is your journey cancelled because of your wait-listed railway tickets are not confirmed? Don’t worry the Indian Railways has come up with a new solution for these type of problems. They introduced the Vikalp Scheme which is very helpful for the passengers who got waitlisted tickets. From 1st April 2017, passengers can avail this Alternative Train Accommodation Scheme which is more beneficial for waitlisted passengers.

Until now there is a mismatch between accommodations of reserved tickets, i.e., some trains run with additional passengers while some trains run empty even though both the train run the same direction. In order to get rid of this situation, Indian Railways introduced the Vikalp Scheme. According to the reports, this scheme is available through railways online portal IRCTC and later it will make available to counters.

Under this IRCTC Vikalp Scheme, the wait-listed passengers can get confirmed berths in the next alternative train without paying any additional cost. For example, if you book tickets for Lucknow Mail which runs from New Delhi to Lucknow and you got wait listing. If you selected the option of Vikalp scheme, you could get confirmed ticket in the next train which runs on the same route.

The Alternative Train Accommodation Scheme is only available for the tickets booked through IRCTC. As soon as the chat prepared, if your train is still on a waiting list, you will receive an SMS which informs about activation Vikalp option. After activating you will get confirmed tickets details like new train name, berth number and coach number.

IRCTC to make Aadhaar Card Compulsory for booking Online Tickets

If you opt for Vikalp Scheme, you can upgrade to a higher class by paying the difference in cost. For example, you had AC 3 wait-listed ticket which you have booked and got a ticket in Sleeper Coach in new train through Vikalp scheme. You can change to AC 3 by paying the additional amount in case the tickets are available in AC coach.

The Vikalp Scheme will be available only for the candidates whose tickets are still in waiting list even after the chart is prepared. Once you select the Vikalp Scheme option, you cannot board the train which you booked. Indian Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said that they are started the Alternative Train Accommodation Scheme trial basis since 1st November on Delhi-Jammu, Delhi-Lucknow and Delhi-Mumbai. People can utilise the scheme in premium trains such as Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Humsafar and Suvidha trains also.
