With the aim of providing internet connectivity in remote areas, Indian Railways has come up with a new service of launched WiFi Hotspot as array online services. IRCTC is planning to launch the Railwire Saathi scheme across 500 Remote Railway Stations where people can access to Wi-Fi hotspot and many other services.
Nowadays, the technology has transformed the society in a way that most of the people across the country who are using the internet are in large numbers. The Railwire Saathi kiosks will function like Digital India PCO which allows the people to use the services like
- Access to WiFi Hotspot
- E-commerce
- Online Banking
- Access to open school/university educational portal
- Provision to appear for the online exams
- Insurance schemes
- E-ticketing for train and bus services

In addition to this, IRCTC (Indian Railways Catering and Transport Corporation) also provide services like automated form filling, DTH recharge and other mobile services. The railways are planned to launch the Railwire Saathi in 500 Remote Railway Stations with limited connectivity.
The Digital India PCO aims to offer job opportunities in rural areas and also to provide the connectivity to the unconnected. The IRCTC is also in plans to equip about 400 stations with the free WiFi services in association with Google. According to the reports, the Railwire Saathi will be expected to be operational by the month of May.
