State run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd smartphone users who are not using GSM data services will get 1GB free data. As a part of promoting digital India drive, pan India move is aimed to increase the number of Internet users in BSNL prepaid mobile service.

“On pan India basis BSNL offers 1 GB free data for the smartphone users who are not using BSNL GSM data services. The intention of this offer is to promote number of internet users in BSNL network,” BSNL said in a statement.

This move comes as reliance Jio effect after the announcement of Jio Prime membership programme. Reliance Jio has emerged as the largest telecom network in India with 100 million subscribers. The latest Jio Prime subscription also offers same benefits of ‘Happy New Year’ offer with decent price.

Earlier, BSNL has launched 2GB of 3G data pack with unlimited on-net calling at Rs. 339 to counter Reliance Jio. This plan is valid for 28 days. On the other hand, Jio is offering 1GB 4G data everyday and unlimited calls till the end of Happy New Year offer.

As per BSNL, 2GB per day plan in the best in industry. BSNL users will get 25 minutes free call to other network every day. Post charges are as similar as 25 paise per minute.
