Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is strengthening its infrastructure by pumping funds into various areas of expansions and developments.The new developments would include  new WiFi hotspots and Signalling towers Setup

An estimate of Rs.2,500 crores out of the self-allotted budget of Rs.4,000 crores is being released in the seconds financial year. In addition to this, the Government of India has a funding of Rs.3,000 crores to BSNL. Already, the mobile service provider has invested Rs.1,500 crores in the first quarter of the Financial year 2016-17.

A total of Rs.7,000 crores will make the BSNL improve and expand its network. A significant portion of investment lies in setting up of new towers for better signals and Wi-Fi hotspots.

The division of these fund allocations are in detail are as follows. GSM expansion is mainly focused on strengthening the network signaling. Left-wing Indian states will have the most benefit from these funds. Optical fiber sector is being the beneficiary of these investments.

BharatNet and Defence spectrum project will provide the better network. BSNL will install 20,000 BTS to improve quality in the services provided. By March 2016, from now these new installations works will be completed.

Wi-Fi will have a new combination of Capex and Opex model. At present, BSNL has 2,700 Wi-Fi hotspots. The service provider plans to make this figure reach 40,000 by the end of March 2018.

“Opex model” will enable the franchisees which install, manage and run the sites for a term of five years. They are also responsible for sales and marketing. On the other side, “Capex model” BSNL creates and owns self-installed wifi hotspots.

The development of the network will be helpful in transferring the data seamlessly and at good speeds. The voice calls will also be made clear and the networking, signaling will have a better experience for the users.

Other areas will be developed from the budget allocations of govt. And they will be in the areas of infrastructure mostly.
