Modi Draws Parallel with Lord Krishna, Targets Akhilesh Yadav

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that despite being born in Gujarat, he had chosen Uttar Pradesh as his land of vocation, drawing a parallel with Lord Krishna who was born in Uttar Pradesh but made Gujarat his “karma bhoomi“.

The Prime Minister said he was an adopted son of Uttar Pradesh and vowed not to ditch the people of the state. He also took a dig at Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav over his rift with father Mulayam Singh Yadav.

“Krishna was born in Uttar Pradesh but made Gujarat his karma bhoomi. I was born in Gujarat but Uttar Pradesh has adopted me. It is a privilege for me. Uttar Pradesh is like ‘mai-baap’. I am not a son who would ditch his mai-baap. I will always care about Uttar Pradesh.

“Despite being an adopted son, it is my duty to develop Uttar Pradesh,” Modi told an election rally here in Uttar Pradesh.

Talking about ISRO creating a world record by successfully putting 104 satellites into orbit, Modi said the world is talking about success of our scientists and the countrymen are feeling proud.

“Everyone is working hard to take the country to new heights but what will happen if Uttar Pradesh lags behind,” he said.

“Samajwadi Party, Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party never thought about the bigger picture. All they did was to serve a select few, guided by political calculations. The fortune of the state can not be changed until it gets rid of these political parties,” Modi added.

In his hour-long address, Modi also took on the state government over the law and order situation, saying it has failed to protect its own people as the state register maximum numbers of killings, while it alone registers 50 per cent cases related to Arms act.

“Police stations of the state have become party office of a political party. No case is being registered here until the area chief of the ruling party okays it. Illegal weapons have become business here, which kills more than 3,000 people each year. Only those having links with the ruling party get government jobs,” Modi said. “The situation in UP due to the failure of the state government is such that we need to work hard to overcome this,” he added.

He said if BJP comes to power, it will waive off the loans of the farmers in its first cabinet meeting. Hardoi votes on Sunday in the third phase of the staggered elections to chose a new government in the country’s most populous state.

National Women’s Parliament to be inaugurated by Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate a first-of-its-kind National Women’s Parliament at Pavitra Sangamam in Vijayawada city. Buddhist spiritual leader Dalai Lama will also attend the inaugural session of the three-day event. The event is held with a theme ‘Empowering Women-Strengthening Democracy’ with leaders from abroad and India.

NWP focuses on enabling and encouraging political, economic and social empowerment of women in all sections of the society. Generating new ideas, theories, concepts for women empowerment are the main objectives of NWP. The AP state Legislative Assembly is hosting the event, and the government is organizing it with the support from the Inter-Parliamentary Union and Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Union among others.

Govt Launches Varishtha Pension Bima Yojana 2017 (VPBY) for Senior Citizens

The Central Cabinet had made a crucial decision by approving a pension scheme for senior citizens. According to the meeting headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Life Insurance Corporation of India would give a guaranteed return of 8 percent for ten years.

The union cabinet also gave a final nod for launching the prestigious Varishtha Pension Bima Yojana 2017 (VPBY 2017). The implementation of this scheme would be under the state-owned LIC.

Under the new pension scheme, the old citizens who are above 60 plus will be benefited with guaranteed returns. Thus the government is providing the senior citizens’ social security despite the market conditions at the time of return.

The differed amount between the assured return and return made by LIC would be borne by the Government of India as a subsidy to the pensioners.

The Government said that “It will provide an assured pension based on a guaranteed annual return of 8 per cent for ten years, with an option to opt for the pension on a monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and annual basis.”

India INX: India’s 1st International Stock Exchange is Now Opened

INX, which is India’s first ever International Stock Exchange, has been inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Gujarat International Financial Tec (GIFT) city which is also India’s first smart city. India International Exchange or INX, which is just owned subordinate of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), will allow traders to buy and sell stocks for 22 hours in a day.

The INX is following the International trading timings. The unique stock exchange will start when trading at Japanese stock exchange starts, and ends when US Stock Exchange Stops. So, after a gap of 2 hours, the seller can resume their stock trade, and literally push it to a never-ending journey.

During the inauguration event, PM Modi said, “The India INX will create new values in quality of service and speed of transactions in different time zones. I have been already told that the international stock exchange would work for 22 hours a day. It will work form sunrise to sunset.”
