Gionee F5 Launched with 5.3-inch display, 4GB RAM, and 4000mAh Battery

Gionee F5

Gionee has unveiled its latest smartphone F5 officially now. This latest addition to F-series was first noticed in TENAA last December. Though Gionee was lagged a bit back in the competition last year, Gionee F5 would be a great come back. The uni-body design and the metal built quality will be a great plus to this midrange offering from Gionee.

Gionee F5 features a 5.3-inch HD IPS display with 2.5D curved glass. The display offers a screen resolution of 1280 × 720 pixels. The smartphone is powered by a 1.5 GHz Octa-Core MediaTek MT6750 64-bit processor coupled with Mali T860 GPU. Gionee F5 sports 4GB RAM with 32GB internal storage. However, storage is expandable up to 128GB with a microSD card.

Gionee F5 measures 150×74.5×7.7mm in dimensions and weighs 162g. It also has a fingerprint sensor in the home button. Connectivity options in the Gionee F5 include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS.

The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with customized Amigo OS 3.2 on top. The hybrid dual SIM mobile allows you 2 nano SIM cards, which you need to sacrifice one for microSD. On camera font, Gionee F5 sports 13MP Auto Focus sensor with LED flash and 8MP front-facing camera. The device is powered by a 4000mAh battery which will be a great mate for the specs.

Gionee F5 was launched in China and is avaivlable in gold and rose gold colors variants. The price of the device in China is about 1799 CNY. As of now, we don’t have any update about Gionee F5 price in India, but it would be around (Rs. 17,600 approx.)

Huawei Honor 6X Review: The Dual-Camera Setup is the Entire ‘Honor’ You Get?

Camera in a smartphone has become one of the key elements to choose the right pick. You’ll get a better camera as you go up in the price range, but how about budget phones? Do we really need to compromise up on camera? If you are the one who is dreaming about the best camera in the budget phone, this Honor 6X review is for you. A year after Honor 5X, the company has launched Honor 6X with some good specs.

Though the maker has produced Honor 8 in the earlier year, it has limitation considering its price.  Now, the Honor 6X made its debut in the high competitive segment with dual camera support. It is more interesting to see how the Honor 6X will compete with the Moto G4 plus and the latest Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. Here we detail you about the specs and features of the device in this Honor 6X review.

Design:

The Honor 6X is a typical metal built smartphone with a great finish. The phone borrows more of its design cues from the Honor 5X, and you don’t find any major design upgrade. The metal chassis has got quite smooth finish which also results in bad gripping. Even the gentle curves failed to provide a great in-hand experience, and the handset is slippery. However, the phone sports a premium looks visually.

Coming to the front, it’s a typical slab with no physical keys on it. You may complain about the stupid bezel length on the bottom which makes no sense. On the top, you get a 3.5mm audio out jack and a secondary noise cancellation microphone. A micro-USB type charging port is provided on the bottom edge with speaker and microphone on either side of it.

The device’s right edge packs the volume rockers and home button, while the left side packs the Hybrid SIM slot. The buttons placement is quite a regular one which we come across in most of the budget smartphones. On the rear side, Honor 6X has the dual-camera setup with fingerprint sensor below it. Overall, the device looks great with good built quality, but there are places where it could have been better.

Alcatel Idol 4 Review: Know What’s Beyond VR Experience

Display:

The Honor 6X features a 5.5-inch full-HD screen with 1080 x 1920 display resolution. The IPS LCD panel is protected by a 2.5D curved glass and offers pixel density of 403 ppi. The thin borders on either side of the display make at least basic one-handed use possible. The brightness levels of the device are good and are great to use it outdoor. Viewing angles are good, and the color reproduction is found adequate.

You also don’t find any visible disturbance around the text. You may notice about colors being little washed away when you go in detail. Software enhancements like color temperature adjustment and contrast-enhancing mode are there for you to get a better display. On the whole, the display is great if you don’t compare it with flagships like Galaxy S7 and OnePlus 3T.

Moto M review: Performance focused Motorola with design

Honor 6X performance:

The Honor 6X packs a Huawei in-house developed SoC, Kirin 655. The midrange octa-core chipset clocks at 2.1GHz and is coupled with Mali-T830 GPU for graphic duties. The Kirin 655 offers equal performance of Qualcomm Snapdragon 625, so you won’t have any repents for Honor 6X price in India. Though it does not compete with the powerhouse of SoC, it packs the real punch to manage games and apps well.

Honor 6X is available in India with 3GB with 32 GB storage or 4GB RAM with 64 GB storage. Users can choose the right one according to their usage and price fit. Other specifications of the Honor 6X include Wi-Fi b/g/n, USB-OTG, Bluetooth 4.1, FM radio, and 4G VoLTE support. However, the Wi-Fi is not dual band support, which is quite disappointing. The fingerprint scanner works well and can also be assigned to unlock apps.

The phone won’t lag anywhere and handles multitasking with ease. You don’t even find any heating issues even on heavy usage including gaming. The stock music and video players on the Honor 6X perform the media duties very well. It can also play 1080p video files and FLAC audio files. Few audio enhancement options like SWS can be experienced when you plug-in your earphones. The audio-out speaker placement is a bit disturbing while gaming.

Gaming in Honor 6X is flawless, even heavy graphic games are brilliant. The device just does well what even you throw at it. You don’t even complain about any frame drops and lags while gaming. Games like Dead trigger 2 and Nova 3 are brilliant. Undoubtedly, Honor 6X is one of the best devices to recommend if you are a heavy gamer. But the only thing is you need to pick the higher 4GB RAM variant. Benchmarks score by 3DMark Unlimited is about 11840 and 57530 points by AnTuTu.

Samsung Galaxy On Nxt Review: Rebranded J7 Prime?

Software:

Before we skip into the Software section in our Honor 6X review, I have an important note for you. You almost get the same software feel of Honor 8 in the new Honor 6X. The smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with heavily customized EMUI 4.1 on top. Only a few features like ROG power saving mode made a skip in the Honor 6X. Also, the smartphone offers plenty of customizations with the single-layered EMUI. Interestingly, the notification bar splits into tabs, separating the toggle switches from notifications.

The recent apps screen is now appeared in cards, not in tiles which you usually find in stock version. The Smart Assistance sub-menu in the Settings app grants a host of convenience features. Adding to these, some motion- and voice-based gestures also work well. There are many other services like Emergency Services menu, HiCloud for what you spend on Honor 6X price in India. You get a lot of bloatware pre-installed, but thankfully, you can remove all the third-party apps.

Vivo V5 Review: Is that just a ‘Perfect Selfie’ Show?

Camera:

Here we come to the highlight area of Honor 6X, the dual cameras. It flaunts a dual camera set up on the rear, which popular budget smartphones like Redmi Note 4 don’t have. The 12 MP primary sensor is accompanied by a 2-megapixel sensor below it. However, the secondary sensor is used only for proving the depth in the image rather than enhancing the picture quality. The main camera employs a Sony IMX386 sensor and does support PDAF.

Images are sharp, properties are good in detail and colors are pretty accurate. The camera app is another Honor 6X feature which you find more interesting. It allows you to choose an aperture range between f/0.95 to f/16 aperture to get some good effects. The sensor clicks excellent pictures in daylight, night clicks are acceptable but are not the best. Focus speeds are great in daylight and a bit sluggish in low light conditions. The camera does fare well in various conditions, and you don’t find any noise in the colors.

The front sensor on the Honor 6X captures sharp selfies in daylight but lacks its performance in low light. There are plenty of filters and shooting modes to choose up on applying for selfies. The Honor 6X enables video recording up to 1080p, and the video quality is good. The video output is steady, and there are few places where it could have been better. Nevertheless, it certainly gives a steady and great video clips.

Battery:

A 3340mAh non-removable battery backs Honor 6X. The battery setup does an excellent job resulting in the phone running throughout the day. The Kirin 655 is another factor for providing an excellent battery life. The only case where you find a major battery drop is gaming. If you are not a heavy user, it serves you a complete day of usage.

On a heavy usage, which includes gaming for a couple of hours, the phone remained alive for 12 hours. Honor 6X battery could be better if we compare to its competitors like Xioami Redmi Note 4 and Moto M. The battery provides a fast charging option with the 10W power adapter supplied in box. The battery gains back from 0 to more than 50 percent just in an hour of charge.

Lenovo P2 Review: Live more with the Giant Battery

Pros:

  • Great built quality
  • Sharp display
  • Performance
  • Battery life
  • Camera

Cons:

  • Hybrid SIM slot
  • Design is slippery
  • No USB type-C port

Verdict:

Honor 6X is essentially a great smartphone to choose from the budget segment. This is a great alternative for Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 if you are not a great fan of it. The software and the performance are great for a regular usage. The Honor 6X price in India is decent considering its specs what it offers. You even don’t find a reason to complain about the Kirin 655 as well. The camera-centric device won’t disappoint you for the price what you spend. The Honor 6X is surely a better buy if visuals are your priority by all means in choosing a phone.

Asus Zenfone 3 Laser Review: Laser Auto Focus Camera with Simple Body Design

Asus Zenfone 3 Laser (ZC551KL) is the latest flagship smartphone released by the company. Asus has a history of introducing the handsets with the great features within the lower pricing segment. Earlier, Asus has come up with the Zenfone 2 Laser, and it seems the company is looking forward to implementing the same tradition, for releasing the next line-up Zenfone 3 Laser. When compared with the pricing segment, this phone gives the competition to Xiaomi’s Mi5 and other smartphones. Check out the complete review of Asus Zenfone 3 Laser.

Design

Asus Zenfone 3 Laser comes in the 5.5-inch display with 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Zenfone 3 Laser’s body is designed with the mix of glass and metal. This handset goes with the simpler design rather than going with the fashionable design. Although the complete body of the phone is metallic built, you don’t feel heavy when you hold it. There is the Asus branding on the back of the phone at the bottom. There are two strips on the bottom and top of the device.

On the up front of the device, you can notice the standard sensors along with the 8 MP front-facing camera. There are capacitive buttons right below the display. These buttons arrive with the backlit, and we feel easy and comfortable to use.

Google Pixel XL Review: Specs, Features and more

On the right side of the device, you can notice the volume rockers along with the power button. These buttons are well placed and handy to use.  The left side of the phone comes with sim tray. The headphone jack is placed on the top of the phone, which is more convenient. But it is not placed at the center; it is placed left side on the top. The fingerprint sensor can be observed on rear-end and right below the camera of the phone. The micro USB is placed at the bottom of the phone which is common for the smartphones these days.

Display

The Zenfone 3 Laser has remarkable 5.5-inch Full HD display. As we can say, smartphones these days are with 5.5-inch size, which is common and people are used to it. The resolution comes with 1920 x 1080 pixels and great viewing angles. The screen to body ration is 77% on the phone. With good and wide screen size the display is packed with the details along with decent brightness.

As mentioned earlier, it comes with 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 3 display. It helps the display screen of your phone from scratches. On having the Corning Gorilla Glass 3, the device has enhanced scratch resistance power and also reduced scratch visibility and better strength.

Processor

Heading to the Processor segment, Zenfone 3 Laser is having 64-bit Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 on the board. This Octa-Cores distinguished as 4 Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.2 GHz and rested 4 Cortex cores are A53 clocked at 1.5 GHz. With the perfect balancing of these cores, performance and battery of the phone is enhanced. For effective working of the phone, it is arrived with Adreno 505 GPU.

Hasselblad True Zoom Mod Review: Great Companion for Moto Z Play

The RAM of this phone is with 4GB on the board which is equivalent to the processor. With the given RAM, it lets the users perform multi-tasking. You can experience smooth operations when you access multiple applications. Switching between the apps is convenient, and lag is not observed on using it. When you play, go with high-end gaming, the phone gets heated. For example when you play the games like Asphalt, Modern Combat, and more you can feel the heat at a panel of the phone. So normal gaming is good, and continuous gaming leads to the heating. The benchmark statistics of this phone are impressive according to the performance and all.

But when considering the pricing segment, under 20K you can expect not better than this. Asus Zenfone 3 Laser has given the decent performance scores within the given price range, and it is acceptable with the results.

Camera

As you all know, this phone is the Zenfone 3 Laser successor of the Zenfone 2 Laser. The particular thing about this phone is laser autofocus camera. The primary camera of the phone comes with a 13-megapixel camera with different technologies. This handset is included with the EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) for the video recording and super-fast focus speed.

Focusing the subjects on a mobile phone is the toughest thing, but you can focus quickly on the subjects using the Zenfone 3 Laser. The images captured on this phone are decent, and the details of the subjects are good. But having the device with the built-in laser focus, the image quality is just good which should not to be faced. The focus time and the shutter speed are good when the user captures the pictures which worked well in this segment.

The secondary camera or the front facing camera is with 8 Megapixel with the f/2.0 aperture. The photos captured with this camera gives the good results which are good for taking the selfies. It supports up to 84-degree field of view not only selfies, capturing groupies are made easy with this.

Some of the features on this camera are Selfie Panorama, Beautification mode which is the default, Auto, Night mode, GIF Animation, HDR Pro and Low Light capturing.

OS and Software

Asus Zenfone 3 Laser is pre-installed and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS with the Asus ZenUI 3.0 which is the brand new interface added with the intelligence. The best hardware needs the best software for effective and efficient performance.

Samsung Galaxy On Nxt Review: Rebranded J7 Prime?

The features that can be experienced with the ZenUI are Real-time animated weather and clock widgets, Tailor your phone to your liking, see your world in motion, ZenMotion-Tap and swipe just the way you liked and optimized your mobile experience. The home screen, app launcher, icon packs, themes are completely customizable. This OS is the Brand new interface with added the intelligence.

Apart from the operating system, the phone is pre-installed with few applications. Only some of the apps are useful, and yes you can uninstall those apps.

Features

Zenfone 3 Laser is having the features like fingerprint sensor, Dual Sim support and more. The fingerprint sensor is perfectly positioned on the phone at rear-end. Unlocking the phone with a fingerprint sensor is done in a fraction of seconds’, i.e., 0.3S is the unlock time which is very responsive. It supports five fingers and 360-degree recognition. Another thing to be noticed is, it has the app integration support for the fingerprint sensor.

You can swipe down your fingertip on the sensor to initiate the selfie camera and tap your fingertip to capture the image. This acts as the secondary shutter button on your phone which is very helpful. You can even answer the incoming calls with the double tip tap. By registering the fingerprints up to 5, you can quickly launch the apps.

Battery & Connectivity

The battery on this phone is equipped with non-removable 3,000 mAh capacity and life of the battery is decent. This phone doesn’t support the fast charging which is the major back drop for the given price range. But when compared to the Snapdragon 617 processor, the power efficiency has increased 35%.

Asus Zenfone 3 Laser comes with the 4G LTE support, and other connectivity options are Wi-Fi with the version number 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1 and GPS. The phone is sported with the hybrid Sim slot which is quite uncomfortable, but it is becoming the standard. You will be confused when you have to choose between Storage expansion and Dual sim capability.

Moto Z Play Review: Modular Phone With Outstanding Battery Life

Pros

  • Stylish and Premium Design with Slim and light weight.
  • Front Camera Quality is good and Rear camera is decent.
  • Less Heating issues (Not on Heavy Gaming)
  • Decent Battery Backup over 4G Usage.

Cons

  • Hybrid SIM
  • The processor could have increased.
  • Lack of Fast Charging
Verdict

As per the price range of Rs. 19,999.00 these are the best features any company can include and Asus did it with the decent price segment. The camera, design, fingerprint sensor and battery are the assets of this smartphone. But after considering lag of some common features within the price range like Fast Charging and more, you have to consider the pricing. So it’s better to wait for the price drop. Asus Zenfone 3 Laser is now available on Flipkart for the discount price, and you can even avail the bank cashback offer for this phone.
