Just within of flee, Bhopal police have gunned down 8 SIMI operatives today. Earlier, in the morning hours of 2.00 AM – 3.00 AM the banned terrorist group SIMI members ran away from Central Jail in Bhopal. While doing so, hey have killed the Sub-Constable of the jail.
All the escaped members were identified as Mohammed Saliq, Amjed, Khalid, Abdul Majeed, Mujeeb Sheikh and Zakir Hussain Sadiq and got killed in the encounter.
Delhi’s anti-terror wing has also sent a team to Bhopal after the escape news aired. But the MP police has considerably done a good job in finding them and lastly due to an exchange of gun firing, they killed the escaped SIMI operatives.
Counter Terrorist Group (CTG) and Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) team in a joint operation led by Senior IPS officer Sanjeev Shami has gunned down the terrorists near Manikheda. This location is just far from the Bhopal Central Jail and comes under the Gunga police station preview.
Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and state Home minister Bhupendra Singh has termed the incident as unfortunate. Besides, they have congratulated the Police for taking the appropriate action so quickly. They also expressed that major tension got released as there were chances of creating a massacre if not caught.
This is the second incident in the past 3 years that SIMI organization( Students Islamic Movement of India) operatives have fled from different jails in various parts of India. The same group had fled from Khandwa jail of Madhya Pradesh in the past.
They had gone to Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh and later to Telangana. They were caught related an IED explosion at their hideout in the course of assembling. After that, they were kept in Bhopal Central Jail.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has alerted all the main prisons in the country to tighten security. Especially, Tihar Jail is alerted as there is large number presence of terrorists.
