There are some exciting updates for the Windows Insiders with the release of Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14946 for PC and Mobiles.
New Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14946 customizes you accuracy in touchpad experience (PC)
As announced last week about the refining the touchpad experience. But, this week Windows 10 Insider was a step further. Now you can find the new section called “Other Gestures” after going on Settings > Devices > touchpad
This ‘Other Gestures’ section enables you to carry the basic customization options with three and four fingers. The three fingers ‘Taps’ on the touchpad allows the user to select the following functions between Cortana, Action Center, Middle house button.
For the three fingers ‘Swipes’ to the Right/Left the users can select Switching of Apps or Switching of virtual desktops. Try these touch gestures on your touchpad. From the users point of view, the users prefer more control over their experience. For those power users (Insiders) there is ‘Advanced Gestures Configuration Page’.
The Advanced Gestures Configuration Page has more options like hooking gestures up for previous/next song, virtual desktops creation/deletion or windows snapping. An updated Touchpad setting are also available in addition to these new options, which include reference diagrams to remind the user of what to expect while swiping fingers in certain direction.
Separate Screen time-out settings by using Continuum for Mobile (Phone)
This update enables user to turn the screen which you are not using with Continuum preventing screen burn-in and saving battery. The user can also independently set time-outs values for the sessions of connected screen in the phone. Settings can be set like: Settings > Personalization > Lock Screen.
Updated Wi-Fi Settings Page for PC and Mobile
Wi-Fi Settings Page added new settings more similar across Windows Devices. You can go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi on your PC > Turn Wi-Fi off, now the user can set a time period for ‘Turn Wi-Fi back On’ to turn on the Wi-Fi automatically after the time chosen. By default it is set Manually in this build. This setting also works on Mobile too.
Auto-Correction Prevention Option for Mobile
If the user happens to find the auto-correction is going on (i.e first candidate is bolded) and that’s not what you intended, the originally typed as the second candidate can be seen now with this new option. By a tap on that candidate, it will disable auto-correction. The system will learn the user’s vocabulary over the time and gets smarter.
Word removal option from User’s Dictionary (Mobile)
Built with local user dictionary which adapts keyboard prediction, auto-correction and adds styles to users language with shape writing and also for the easy usage of words in Mobiles. New Windows Insiders removes bad entries, repetitive and misspelled words from auto saving to the dictionary.
Expanding our Text for Text prediction to more languages
This is an exciting build for keyboard improvements. The following keyboards are updated and now support text prediction: Lithuanian, Latvian, Estonian, Slovene (also called Slovenian), Bulgarian, Albanian, Macedonian, Afrikaans, Galician, Basque, Swahili, Bangla in Bangladesh, Georgian, Azerbaijani (also called Azeri) (in Latin script), Kazakh, Armenian, Hausa (in Latin script) and Uzbek (in Latin script).
Note: Change in Automatic Backups of your Mobile
The frequency for the scheduled backups for mobiles has been changed to once a week. A button for manual backup ‘Back up Now’ remains unchanged and works as usual. This change can be done via Settings > Update & Security > Backup and Clicking the ‘More options’ link, located towards the bottom.
The changes in Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14946 for PC and Mobiles were awesome with the touchpad gestures. Many other improvements and fixes had been done by Windows team.
