The UN Assembly designated 23 June as United Nations Public Service Day. The Public Service day is celebrating leaving no one behind through Innovative Public Service Delivery on 23 June 2016 in New York, USA. Also, the UN Public Service Awards are given on this day.
The celebration will take part at United Nations HQ in New York to a high level of knowledge sharing on “Leaving No One Behind Innovative Institutional Approaches and Public Service Delivery”.
The purpose of this event is to recognize public servants contribution to sustainable development aim at providing a platform to share ideas, knowledge, and innovative practices from around the world.
The event organized by the Permanent Mission of Bolivia and Netherlands to the United Nations along with Division for Public Administration and Development Management (DPADM).
The event will provide the opportunity to build capacities and exchange of knowledge on innovative practices and lessons learned on providing services to the vulnerable groups and policies and strategies to mobilize public institutions for the implementation of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).
The day is celebrated intending the value and virtue of public service to the community, highlighting the contribution of public service in the development process to recognize the work of civil servants encouraging young people to pursue careers in the public sector. The United Nations has received an increasing number of submissions all around the world.
