Indian Flag Raises finally! India won’t come back empty-handed from Rio now.

After 11 days at Rio, Indian Wrestler Sakshi got something good to see, by showing a comeback performance at women’s wrestling 58 KG freestyle.

She defeated Kyrgyzstan’s  Aisuluu Tynybekova 8-5 to become the first player to open the medals account.

Sakshi was down 0-5 in the beginning rounds and fought back to equate the score to 5-5. With few seconds left to end the bout, she scored three points that turner the match towards her.

After winning Bronze Sakshi Malik said “Meri 12 saal ki tapasya safal hui (My 12 years’ of hard work have born fruit),”

“Aakhir tak dimag mein tha medal tera hai (till the last moment, my heart said the medal was mine),” Sakshi added.

Sakshi is 23-year-old and hails from Rohtak in Haryana. There was a huge applause for the winner from the sports fraternity and others.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted “Sakshi Malik creates history! Congratulations to her for the Bronze. The entire nation is rejoicing”, the PM’s Twitter handle said. “On this very auspicious day of Raksha Bandhan, Sakshi Malik, a daughter of India, wins Bronze & makes all of us very proud.
