Just like India has sent at the Rio Olympics, now they are sending its largest ever contingent athletes in the history of Paralympics. This year the Rio Paralympics will see as many as the 19 athletes from the country.

The games which generally follow Summer Olympics and this Rio Paralympics 2016 are scheduled from 7th September to 18 September which will be held in Rio de Janerio, Brazil. The Paralympics will be held for every four years for the persons with various disabilities.

The Paralympics games provide the equal platform for the persons with disabilities to showcase their skills and talent to represent their countries. There will be ten categories in these Paralympics such as impaired massive range of movement, impaired muscle power, short stature, limb deficiency, leg length difference, ataxia, hypertonia, athetosis, intellectual impairment and vision impairment.

Cybathlon 2016- International Competition for Physically disabled Athletes

India has owned a total eight medals over 12 Paralympics, i.e., two gold, three silver and three bronze in last Olympics. This year the 19 various disability athletes from India will compete in five categories like athletics, swimming, powerlifting, shooting and archery.

“The people of India will be enthusiastically cheering for our athletes representing India at the Rio 2016 Paralympics, starting 7th Sept,” tweeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “We all wish our contingent for the Rio 2016 Paralympics the very best. I am sure our athletes will give their best & make us proud,” he added.

The search engine Google has come up with an amazing Google Doodle to start up the Rio 2016 Paralympics. There are two Google Doodles today. The two doodles are identical but except in their colours. Most of the world will see the Rio 2016 Paralympics Doodle which is in Yellow colour.
