At Rio, Indian Flag has glorified in the air with proud as the country has scored its first Gold model in the Rio Paralympics event.Mariyappan Thangavelu has succeeded in the bagging a Gold medal in men’s high jump competitions held in Rio Paralympics event.

Not only that, but he also made a history by becoming the first Indian high-jumper to achieve this fleet in this category.Indian has also bagged a Bronze medal in the same high jump T-42 event. Varun Singh Bhati has achieved this honor for India. In Rio Olympics India could bag only one medal in all the categories, it has participated.

P V Sindhu has bagged a Silver medal for India in Badminton competitions.Thangavelu completed his jump with a leap of 1.89 meters to top the spot followed by USA’s Sam Grewe in the second place. He was awarded the silver medal. On the other hand, Bhatia has finished in the third spot by jumping a leap of 1.86 meters. This is also is career best.

Another nominee from India in this category has finished at sixth position bagging nothing. Sharad Kumar occupied the sixth position in the category. There were a few expectations initially with Sharad. But he failed to cope with them.

PV Sindhu Becomes First Indian Daughter to bag Olympic Silver Medal

Indian Sports Ministry, before the start of events, has announced some of the prize amounts if they win medals for India. As per the announcement, Sports Ministry on behalf of Central Government will award a prize money of Rs. 75 lakhs for Gold medal winners, Rs.50 lakhs for Silver medal winners and Rs.30 lakhs for Bronze medal winners.

As per the declaration of Govt. of India, Mariyappan Thangavelu will receive an amount of Rs.75 lakhs and Varun Singh Bhati will receive an amount of Rs.30 lakhs as their reward money.
