Dream come true for Deepa Malik as she clinches Silver medal at the Rio Paralympic 2016 in Shot put

Rio Paralympic 2016 games are fruitful for Indian athletes till now. They have bagged 2 gold medals, 1 Silver Medal and 1 bronze medal for the country. The silver medal is bagged by a women athlete, Deepa Malik in Women’s Shot put-F53 on 12th September.

Deepa Malik’s throw of 4.61m from her six attempts placed her in second spot. Bahrain’s Fatema Nedham stood in the first spot as her throw measured 4.76m distance. Third spot was occupied by Greece women Dimitra Korokida with a throw of 4.28m.

Paralympic Committee of India has announced 19 athlete competitor names to participate in the Rio Paralympic 2016 games. Out of 19 athletes, 16 are Men and 3 are Women participants. India is participating in 5 sports held at Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro starting from 7th to 18th September 2016. Power lifting, Swimming, Shooting, Archery and Athletics are the categories in which India is participating.

Deepa Malik has become the first women paralympian to clinch a medal in Paralympics. Deepa is a Paralysed women from waist to legs. She is a paraplegic since 17 years. She also holds the record to become the first women to participate as a biker, swimmer, rally driver and now the Paralympian medalist. She also the first paraplegia women to participate in one of the world’s highest and most difficult motor rallies in the Himalayas.

Deepa dedicated her medal to her husband, Children, skill Trainer and India. She also hoped that the medal winning will be inspirational to may disabled or handicapped persons first. After returning to India, she expressed her view that the Medal will motivate many women in the country to achieve what they dream of.

Hope that Deepa’s win will inspire many in the country to achieve something in their life without caring about the odds. Her life story is definitely the inspiring one. She underwent Spinal tumor operation and 31 surgeries. But she never restricted herself due to her disability. Sports Authority of India (SAI) has earlier announced a prize money for the winners of medals. Central Government of India will award the cash prize of Rs.75 lakhs for gold medalists, Rs.30 lakhs for silver medalists and Rs.10 lakhs for bronze medalists.

At Rio, Indian Flag has glorified in the air with proud as the country has scored its first Gold model in the Rio Paralympics event.Mariyappan Thangavelu has succeeded in the bagging a Gold medal in men’s high jump competitions held in Rio Paralympics event.

Not only that, but he also made a history by becoming the first Indian high-jumper to achieve this fleet in this category.Indian has also bagged a Bronze medal in the same high jump T-42 event. Varun Singh Bhati has achieved this honor for India. In Rio Olympics India could bag only one medal in all the categories, it has participated.

P V Sindhu has bagged a Silver medal for India in Badminton competitions.Thangavelu completed his jump with a leap of 1.89 meters to top the spot followed by USA’s Sam Grewe in the second place. He was awarded the silver medal. On the other hand, Bhatia has finished in the third spot by jumping a leap of 1.86 meters. This is also is career best.

Another nominee from India in this category has finished at sixth position bagging nothing. Sharad Kumar occupied the sixth position in the category. There were a few expectations initially with Sharad. But he failed to cope with them.

PV Sindhu Becomes First Indian Daughter to bag Olympic Silver Medal

Indian Sports Ministry, before the start of events, has announced some of the prize amounts if they win medals for India. As per the announcement, Sports Ministry on behalf of Central Government will award a prize money of Rs. 75 lakhs for Gold medal winners, Rs.50 lakhs for Silver medal winners and Rs.30 lakhs for Bronze medal winners.

As per the declaration of Govt. of India, Mariyappan Thangavelu will receive an amount of Rs.75 lakhs and Varun Singh Bhati will receive an amount of Rs.30 lakhs as their reward money.

The day was different when all the news items focused only on the prestigious and most awaited Women’s Gold Medal Match, with all hopes laying on P.V Sindhu the ace shuttler of India.

She may be signing as Brand Ambassador for a top Jewellery shop and some real estate firms.
