Hong Kong-based mobile manufacturer ‘Transsion Holdings’ along with its global mobile brand ‘itel’ had announced its entry into Indian market. At Present Confined only to South Asian and African markets, the company is focussing on extending its base to other parts of the globe. The company said that their smartphones will range from Rs. 700 to Rs. 7,000.
It also stated that they would launch six new models which include SmartSelfie it5231, SmartSelfie it2180, SmartPower it5600, PowerPro it1410 and Wish it1508, and its flagship model SelfiePro it1511. The names of the models itself say their primary characteristics. The SmartSelfie model mainly focussed on the front camera for taking selfies while the SmartPower Variant would have a better battery life.
All the smartphones would be powered by the MediaTek chipset which provides better power management, network performance thus by ensuring best usage experience.
Company’s Flagship model Selfie Pro it1511 is a 4G enabled smartphone which runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The rear part of the mobile is loaded with an 8 Megapixel camera having a Dual Flash and Auto-focus option where as the front Camera is a 2MP one with a flash for taking good quality selfies.
It is featured with a 12.7 (5) cm HD display and has a fashionable exterior design. The It1511 is powered with a 64bit MT6735P, 1GB RAM and a long lasting battery. The smartphone possess the dual-sim capability
Speaking at the Event Mr.Sudhir Kumar, CEO, itel India, stated that “India has emerged as a key geography for any global player. It was inevitable for us to foray into this market.”
He also added that “We believe that the mobile ecosystem in India is ripe for disruption and that introducing our brand itel would redefine the level of quality cost-effective offerings in the country. We are confident that itel will emerge as the perfect enabler to drive the rural and semi-urban Indian consumers onto a digital platform and to provide affordable yet feature-driven mobile phones for the aspiring Indian consumers across geographies and social classes.”
To be a part of MAKE IN INDIA Program, itel is also planning to establish manufacturing units in India and also to set up 1,000 + customer service points throughout the country. The company announced that their operations in India would be carried out in two phases.
In the first Phase, they would focus on Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand while phase two itel Mobile would concentrate entering the local markets of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.
itel also has several strategic partnerships with leading brands like Airtel, Vodafone, Sharp, Sony, Intel, Samsung, Java and Facebook.
