In a special event hosted at Lok Kalyan Marg, the official residence of the Indian Prime Minister, members of film fraternity were invited to a special event. PM Modi met these representatives of the film fraternity in this event. It was organised to talk about an initiative ‘Change Within’. This initiative is launched for the 150th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation: Mahatma Gandhi. Modi wanted the film fraternity to come forward and help in popularising the philosophy and teachings of Gandhi.

A two-minute film featuring popular Bollywood faces like Aamir, Shah Rukh, Salman, Kangana, Alia, Sonam, Ranbir, and Vicky Kaushal and directed by Rajkumar Hirani was also screened as a part of this noble initiative. Many heavyweights of the industry were present at the event and were jubilant on meeting the PM.

Aamir Khan shared a video message on social media saying - “It was a wonderful interaction that we had with PM Modi today, it was lovely to hear his thoughts and he was very warm and inspiring.”

SRK added - “I feel it is important that we create work and send out a message in an engaging and entertaining manner. This kind of interaction that we had today was very nice.

A statement from PMO suggested that the PM expressed his desire that the entertainment industry should come up with projects that showcase the inspiring stories from 1857 to 1947: the country’s freedom struggle era and also of the growth story, post-independence to 2022 when we celebrate our 75th Independence Day.

PM told the Bollywood gathering that in the recent meeting the Chinese President Xi Jinping told him that Indian movies like Dangal are popular in China. Modi said, “Your work has reached all corners of the world. On the part of the government, I am happy to help in any way to ensure the maximum impact of your creative initiatives.”

Amidst many big names, one star that was conspicuously missing was Akshay Kumar who got a fair share of the limelight before Lok Sabha elections for its light-hearted interview with the PM. It was not taken lightly by Akshay Kumar’s fans. They took to Twitter filling the gap with numerous memes.

The PM spent two hours with the Bollywood crowd and was happy and appreciative of the ideas that they shared with him. He even assured them that his government will help the industry in every possible way.
