P V Sindhu (Pusarla Venkata Sindhu), Indian Professional badminton player was appointed as Group-I officer by AP CM Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday.
Presenting the offer letter, CM Chandrababu said, he was hopeful that Sindhu brings more medals to the country in future.
After her winning Silver medal in Rio Olympics, Chandrababu Naidu had promised a Group-I post to Sindhu. As promised, she was appointed as the Deputy Collector by the government of Andhra Pradesh. The appointment letter was given at the state secretariat in the presence of Sindhu’s parents. The State Government asked Sindhu to join as Deputy Collector within 30 days.

On receiving the appointment letter, Sindhu said that she is happy to the letter, but badminton will be the first priority in her life.
Following her success in Rio Olympics last year, Chandra Babu Naidu announced a cash reward of 3 crores, a plot in capital Amaravati and Group-I officer job.
The state legislature passed the bill in the month of May to amend the State Public Services Act to recruit P V Sindhu as a Group-I in the Government.

Like any recruitment in Public services has to go through the State Public Commission, employment exchange, the government has to the Regulation of Appointments to Public Services and Rationalisation of Staff Pattern and Pay Structure Act,1994 Andhra Pradesh.
Sindhu is working with BPCL since 2014, and presently an Assistant Manager of sports in Hyderabad office.
The state government of Telangana has also offered 5 crore rupee reward and a residential plot. Telangana Government has also offered a job, but Sindhu chooses AP over Telangana since it is native of her parents.
