Upcoming Android 8.0 may include these Feature Updates

Android 8.0

Android smartphone makers and users are busy in getting updated to the latest version Nougat. On the other hand, Google is on track and is working on the next version of its OS. However, the name of the Android 8.0 isn’t revealed, and the reports suggest it could be another flavor starting with ‘O.’

Also, the reports suggest few upcoming features in the Android 8.0 OS. It is expected that the Android 8.0 will be released in second half of 2017 at Google’s I/O developer conference in May. Google is aiming to catch an Apple with the upcoming updates. Below are the rumored updates which may take place in the upcoming Android OS.

COPY LESS FEATURE:

This new ‘Copy less feature’ provides a hassle-free copy and paste from one app to another. Essentially, it cuts down the traditional copy and pastes process by generating suggestions in Gboard.

“As an example, if you and a friend are having a conversation in a chat about where to eat dinner and you find a good restaurant in the Yelp app, when you go back to your conversation and type ‘it’s at,’ one automatically generated suggestion in Gboard would be the restaurant’s address,” the report read.

As of now, there is no information about when the feature will be added to Google’s standard-issue Gboard.

GOOGLE MAPS UPGRADE

Google is already working on the messaging experience to make more convenient for its users. Google is also planning to add a feature which allows Android to recognize the address in text message directly in Google Maps. Besides that, the same upgrade will also be applied to Gmail. This feature can be observed in iOS devices.

FINGER GESTURES

Google is now making its moves towards finger gestures in the Android 8.0. This new feature allows users to perform actions with fingertips on their smartphones.

“For example, if you draw the letter C onscreen, then Android will show a short list of recent contacts. It’s possible to bring up contacts using the “OK Google” voice command on Android, but a gesture could be faster,” the report read.

However, it is too early to hold breath for these updates as Google hasn’t made any comments on this report.
