RCB vs KKR: Who are You Putting your Money On?

The last time these two biggies were at the loggerheads, RCB was at the receiving end getting out at an embarrassing 49 runs, all time lowest in an IPL match ever. RCB will surely be looking for redemption today.

The second match of the day will be played at the legendary Eden Garden stadium in Kolkata as the host team with its new captain Dinesh Karthik will try to continue the momentum of their last match together. Let us take a quick look at how these arch rivals look like in terms of their team’s composition.

To begin with KKR certainly played smart at the auctions and retained their two West Indian players, Sunil Narine and Andre Russel. These two have created enough havoc for their rivals in almost every match they played. Robin Uthappa and Dinesh Karthik will continue to bring a lot of depth to the batting side. It would be interesting to see how these two batsmen drive the batting of KKR throughout the series, given the fact that both are known to be technical as well as pinch hitters.

On the other side, while RCB has always been a batting powerhouse, this year Virat is hoping his bowlers would turn their fate in IPL 2018. For this season RCB has picked ace pace bowlers like Umesh Yadav, Chris Woakes, Mohammed Siraj, Navdeep Saini and Aniket Choudhary.

In all the seasons we have seen RCB’s team looking the best on paper but the execution has never been their forte. Royal Challengers Bangalore could never actually become a balanced side. KKR was a team that started slow despite being one of top favourites but eventually gained momentum and bagged two titles. RCB is yet to will their first IPL trophy.

New Squads of Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Daredevils Lock Horns Today

Two teams that have not had the best of times in last few IPL seasons, Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Daredevils, would like to start this year on a winning note. What makes these two potentially explosive teams very interesting this season is that both look very new with their new captains.

Virender Sehwag, coach of KXIP, was proudly quoted as saying that they have the best side in all of previous seasons and the team led by the new captain, Ravichandran Ashwin, is just the right mix of Indian and foreign players.

The Punjab team surely looks like a cracker with blasters like Yuvraj Singh and Chris Gayle being in the side amongst other biggies like Aaron Finch, K L Rahul and David Miller. We can surely expect some spotlight on Mohit Sharma, Mujeeb-ur-Rahman, Axar Patel and Manoj Tiwary as well.

On the other side fighting for the cup is the team that is led by Gautam Gambhir, who helped Kolkata Knight Riders win the cup on two occasions. Ricky Ponting is mentoring the team, which can alone change the game of DD in IPL 2018. Two all-rounders that will bring dynamism to the Delhi squad are Glenn Maxwell and Chris Morris.

It won’t be an easy task for Kings XI Punjab to contain Delhi Daredevil from making big totals with the latter boasting of high potential batsmen like Colin Munro, Jason Roy, Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer and the man Gautam Gambhir himself.

The second match of IPL 2018 will be played on the home ground of  KXIP. The two teams despite having very high potential have been underachievers almost across all IPL seasons so far. With a lot of shuffle and young blood joining both the teams, it would be very interesting to see the turn of events from here on!

Chennai Super Kings Trump Mumbai Indians in the Nail-biting IPL 2018 Opener

Summary: Dhoni won the toss and chose to field. Mumbai Indians, with a slow start, managed to put a respectable 165/4. Chennai Super Kings chased down the score with 169 runs in 19.5 overs at the loss of 9 wickets, thus winning the IPL 2018 opener.

There couldn’t have been a better beginning to IPL 2018 than the thriller that CSK vs MI was. Chennai Super Kings managed to clinch the 2018 Indian Premier League opener with Dwayne Bravo being the star of the night, both with the ball and the bat. Bravo blasted a very handsome 68 of just 30 balls, the inning that ignited the CSK chase.

Mumbai: Chennai Super Kings player Dwayne Bravo plays a shot during IPL 2018 opening cricket match against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday.

Second hero from the CSK squad was Kedhar Jadhav who not only held his nerves all the way till the end but also was the man responsible for hitting the winning runs. In the last over CSK required 7 runs and had just 1 wicket in hand. Not succumbing to pressure, Jadhav hit a six of the fourth ball and followed it up with a stylish four to win the match.

In the first innings, Mumbai Indians began with a slow start and were struggling at 20 runs for the loss of 2 wickets with skipper, Rohit Sharma, also not able to do much and going back home at just 15 runs. It was the third wicket partnership of 78 runs between Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan, that brought in stability to MI innings. Towards the end of the first innings, the all rounder Krunal Pandya stole 41 runs just off 22 balls giving the defending champions a score that was worthwhile.

While the clash of the titans was nothing short of a thriller, we know we are just getting started with the IPL fever. Stay tuned with us as we bring in all the news, excitement and fun around 20.18 Indian Premiere League.

IPL 2018: Vinay Kumar Hails Leadership Skills of New Kolkata Knight Riders Captain Dinesh Karthik

The well-known seamer R Vinay Kumar shifted his weight to Dinesh Karthik, the wicketkeeper-batsman. At upcoming IPL (Indian Premier League), Karthik has been surprisingly chosen to helm KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders), which has become two-time champions.

KKR has handed over the whole charge to Karthik and not chosen Gautam Gambhir who was even IPL winning skipper for two times. Robin Uthappa will be the deputy of Karthik.

The former Karnataka skipper, Vinay Kumar said that it doesn’t matter that he had not led a number of matches for Tamil Nadu and it doesn’t prove his dexterity. Instead, he is a good leader and will give his best hopefully. He also said that every one of us should help each other and accept the decision.

In IPL, before joining KKR, in 152 matches, Karthik played for these five franchises - Kings XI Punjab, Gujarat Lions, Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians.

In 2009-10, Karthik led Tamil Nadu as a skipper for a one-day tournament of Vijay Hazare Trophy and won over Bengal. Last year, for Duleep Trophy, he captained India Red. In 2016, he even led Albert Tuti Patriots. This time, KKR will have many young players and recruited under-19 Shubham Gill, Shivam Mavi, and Kamlesh Nagarkoti.

From the first edition, Vinay Kumar is continually playing IPL. Firstly, RCB picked him for their team and he played with them till 2011. Then in 2011, he played for Kochi Tuskers and after that in 2014, he got selected for KKR team. In 2015, he played for Mumbai Indians and now again he is back to the former team, KKR. He said that he is very happy with his return to KKR. Four years back, he was a part of it when they collectively won a tournament.  He also said that he is preparing completely to give best in further matches.
