IPL Match Result: Kings XI Punjab ended up losing to Rajasthan Royals by 15 runs despite K L Rahul’s unbeaten 95

Summary: Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to bat first. Although they lost its skipper Rahane early, but as Butler was in great form they started off really well. Butler scored 82 off 58 balls with the help of nine 4s and one 6. However during the second half, the run rate started dropping significantly with RR reaching a total score of 158 for 8 in 20 overs. Andrew Tye was brilliant ending his spell with 34 for 4 in four overs. While chasing, KXIP started very slow as they lost 3 wickets by the end of 4th over. Their opener batsman K L Rahul was brilliant with unbeaten 95, however he also could not save the match for KXIP as no other batsman could support him on the crease. KXIP managed to reach 143 for 7, thereby losing by 15 runs to RR.

The match at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur was very crucial for the hosts as they were struggling at the bottom of the points table. RR started with attacking mode from the very beginning with Jos Butler taking the lead. However RR could manage just 158 for 8 in 20 overs, as the wicket started getting slow and they lost 6 wickets in the last 6 overs. Apart from Butler, no other RR batsman could contribute significantly to the total score. Andrew Tye from KXIP was brilliant with his spell taking 3 wickets in the last over, thus ending his spell with 34 for 4. Mujeeb maintained a very low economy rate finishing his spell at 21 for 2 in 4 overs.

While chasing a decent score of 159, the KXIP started off very slowly as they lost 3 early wickets. Their star Batsman Chris Gayle had to go back in 3rd over scoring just 1 run in 1 ball. The skipper Ashwin and Nair followed Gayle in the 2nd and 4th over. The projected run rate kept on increasing with every over and they kept on losing wickets. However the only hope was K L Rahul, who showed extraordinarily patience and batted excellently well remaining unbeaten at 95. However, no other batman from KXIP could support K L Rahul, and as a result KXIP lost to RR by 15 runs. Gowtham kept the economy rate very low ending his spell with 12 for 2 in 3 overs. Jos Butler was declared as the Player of the Match.

 

At the end of this match, the hope of RR making it to qualifiers remains alive. RR now stands at 6th position with 8 points in 10 matches whereas KXIP remains in 3rd position with 12 points in 10 matches.

IPL Match Result: Sunrisers Hyderabad beats Royal Challengers Bangalore by 5 runs

Summary: The 39th match of IPL 2018 between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore held in Hyderabad was yet another last over thriller. SRH’s start was slow as it lost its opener batsmen Hales and Dhawan early in 3rd and 5th over. However its skipper Kane Williamson took over the reigns from there and played an excellent inning scoring 56 off 39 balls with the help of five 4s and two 6s, supported by Shakib who scored 35 off 32 balls, reaching a final score of 146 at loss of all 10 wickets.. RCB’s Southee and Siraj claimed two wickets each. On the other hand, RCB started well reaching 60 in 7 overs at a loss of 1 wicket. However, after the dismissal of its skipper Kohli at 39 in 10th over, the run rate started dropping and RCB was short of 5 runs at the end of the match. Shakib from SRH took two wickets in his spell of 4 overs.

The match between RCB and SRH although started on a slow pitch, turned out to be a thriller towards the end. After losing its opener batsmen Hales and Dhawan in the early overs, the skipper Williamson played a sane inning to take the team score to modest 146 for 10. At the time when Williamson and Shakib were playing, it seemed that the team would reach a score above 160. However with departure of both the batsmen, the wickets fell like house of cards with SRH losing 5 wickets in last two overs of the inning, out of which two were run outs. Finally, RCB restricted SRH at 146 for 10 with the help of Southee and Siraj who claimed 3 wickets each.

RCB, on the other hand started on an attacking mode with Kohli looking in great form. With RCB skipper on the crease, it seemed like an easy match for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, the run rate started dropping significantly with his departure, and RCB lost another two wickets of AB de Villiers and Moeen Ali in the next two consecutive overs. Mandeep Singh and Grandhomme stayed in the crease till last but inspite of that, RCB fell short by 5 runs and ended up losing the match. SRH’s bowlers did a fantastic job by defending a total of 146. Sandeep Sharma finished his spell at 20 for 1 in 4 overs whereas Shakib claimed two wickets for 36 runs. Kane Williamson was declared as Player of the Match. This was Sunrisers’ fifth consecutive win in the tournament.

 

With this win, the Sunrisers are sitting at top of the table with 16 points in 10 matches whereas RCB remains at the 6th position with 6 points in 10 matches.

IPL Match Result: Kolkata Knight Riders Register 7 Wicket Win against Rajasthan Royals

Summary: Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and elected to field. KKR restricted Rajasthan Royals at 160 for 8. Royals’ opening batsmen Ajinkya Rahane and Arcy Short scored 36 and 44 runs respectively. KKR’s Nitish Rana and Tom Curran ended up with two wickets each. In response, KKR achieved the target at 18.5 over with loss of just 3 wickets. Uthapa and Karthick scored 48 and 42 whereas both Narine and Nitish scored 35 each. The only bowler from Royals to get success with wickets was Gowtham who ended up with 23 for 2 in 4 overs.

KKR won the match against RR by 7 wickets held at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur on Wednesday. Royals started off cautiously with Rahane and Short playing safe. However, the Royals’ Skipper Rahane started hitting the balls but eventually got out at 36 off 19 balls in the seventh over. Short could score 44 off 43 balls and finally got dismissed by Rana. No other batsmen could stay long enough in the crease and RR could manage just 160 for 8 at the end of 20 overs. The bowlers of KKR did a good job as most of them were able to keep the ER below 10, except Narine who turned out to be comparatively expensive ending up with 48-0 in 4 overs.

Despite losing their opening batsmen Chris Lynn in the first over itself, KKR played comfortably during the entire innings. All other 4 batsmen who came to crease scored well with Narine and Nitin Rana both contributing 35 each. Uthapa played well scoring 48 off 36 balls with the help of 6 fours and 2 sixes whereas the KKR skipper remained unbeaten at 42 hitting 2 fours and sixes each. Nitish Rana was declared as Player of the Match for his all round performance.

At the end of the match, it was a comfortable win for the KKR. With this the KKR registered their 3rd win out of 5 matches and currently stands at the top of the points table.

IPL Match Online: Mumbai Indians vs Royal Challengers Bangalore Today

It is going to be match number 14 of IPL 2018 between the hosts Mumbai Indians Vs Royal Challengers Bangalore today at 8 pm at Wankhende Stadium in Mumbai. It will be match number 4 for both the teams, and is expected to be full house at Wankhede with around 33,000 people expected to witness the live action.

However it is to be noted that both the teams are struggling at the bottom of the points table, with MI being the last one, not registering even a single win despite being the defending Champions, whereas RCB has won just one match against KXIP and currently stands at 6th position with just 2 points.

Going by the past stats, MI clearly have an upper edge as they had beaten RCB 13 times as against losing in 8 occasions. In Mumbai alone, MI has beaten RCB in 4 occasions out of total 7 matches. Interestingly, in last two seasons, MI has won all four matches against RCB.

It is expected to be an out and out exciting match with both the teams putting all the efforts to move up the points table and is going to be spectator’s delight.

 

IPL Match Result: Kolkata Knight Riders Register Massive Win of 71 Runs against Delhi Daredevils

Summary: Gautam Gambhir won the toss and put KKR to bat. The hosts managed a very impressive total score of 200 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 9 wickets. Nitish Rana’s 59 off 35 balls and Andre Russell’s magical 41 runs off 12 balls helped KKR put up a show at Eden Garden. In response, Delhi Daredevils could only manage 129 runs before they got all out in just 14.2 overs.

It was the night that belonged to the host, KKR. The Kolkata team desperately needed to redeem themselves after their last two losses. They not only proved that Kolkata has a strong and stable batting line up but also demonstrated a lot of competency in terms of their balling.

After losing the toss when KKR came to bat most of their batsmen did shining jobs with Nitish Rana scoring highest at 59 runs off 35 balls. But the batsman who took away all the limelight last night was Andre Russell who trailblazed to his 41 runs off just 12 balls hitting 6 sixes. By the end of the inning KKR scored a respectable 200 runs for the loss of 9 wickets.

Robin Uthappa and Chris Lynn also contributed 35 and 31 runs respectively. Rahul Tewatia of DD took 3 wickets and Trent Boult and Chris Morris took 2 wickets each.

When Delhi Daredevils came to bat nothing went in their favour as they kept giving away wickets at regular intervals. Apart from Glenn Maxwell (47 runs off 22 balls) and Rishab Pant (43 off 26 balls) no one could even touch the double digit in terms of runs they scored. The result was Delhi Daredevils getting all out in 14.2 overs scoring just 129 runs.

The victory against DD helped KKR catapult to number 2 position while DD continue to be at number 7.
