For South Africa tests, Australia has announced the team to get prepared for triangular series. In March, the tour will be headed towards South Africa. For test squad of Australia in South Africa, Jon Holland, the left arm spinner has been called again. However, Jhye Richardson, the fast bowler, has been called for the first time to play these tests.
On Monday, Cricket Australia addressed the media saying that to get completely prepared for the tour, the entire test squad of Captain Steve Smith will miss out the triangular series of Twenty20, which has been scheduled in the next month against New Zealand and England.
Just two additions have been made to the Australian squad. The first is Richardson, who has played against England in the very first game of one-day series and two games of Twenty20 Internationals. And, the second one is Holland in the squad behind Nathan Lyon; he is the second spinner. In the year 2016, Holland had played two Tests in Sri Lanka.
In a statement, Trevor Hohns, the chairman said that Jon is an outstanding player, who has played lavishly in the last matches. During the last season, in Sheffield Shield, he was a second wicket-taker and in this season too, his performance was A-1. He further said that if they get a specialist spinner then they will not need two spinners. He has a special belief in Jon.
This series held in South Africa holds utmost importance for the Australian team. It’s a golden chance for them to prove their capabilities away from home and make a peerless record in it. The preparations are on the crest and players are making themselves completely capable of this challenge. In South Africa, the tri-series will happen from 3 to 21 Feb. On Feb. 15, the Australian squad will leave for South Africa. There are lots of expectations from Captain David. He has showcased excellent leadership skills till now and hopefully, the team will give flabbergasting performance under his captaincy.
