YouTube has officially announced a short format video feature ‘Short’, which lives right within the main app. Nowadays, TikTok has become the most trending app in all social media platforms, as evidenced by massive American tech companies, which have been fighting to get to buy a cut of it. Other apps like Instagram tried to copy the format and now YouTube has joined the fray.
Shorts takes things to a great next level, by offering video creation tools to all these who loved to make short videos on TikTok and now Instagram Reels, as the company has started recently by highlighting videos that only last a few seconds long in its mobile app.
Now lets’ talk about the features offered by this app. One can make a video or rather shorts of 15 or less seconds. Moreover, you can add multiple clips together to make it according to your desire.
Even YouTube has decided to give its large licensed music of library for you to film with some of the background tunes. Soon after starting to make a Short, you’ll see a countdown along with a timer. To make your Short more creative, you can even manage the speed of the Short so that you can add something else.
However, YouTube notes that Shorts is in ‘early beta’, so YouTube has decided to release Shorts now in order to get feedback from the users so that they get to know what more they can improve. However, its’ not as attractive as TikTok, but it is the beginning of a great app, so we all can hope that it is the start of something worthwhile.
At the bottom of the app’s navigation bar, YouTube will prominently feature a button in order to get people to actually use the feature to upload new videos.
YouTube has as much of a claim to the ‘fun short video’ format as anyone, to be fair, as the company is certainly jumping on the latest bandwagon, especially considering the first video, which was ever uploaded to the platform that was just 18 seconds long. Some of the creators, who came from Vine, are already specialized in the Short video making, yet there’s no shortage of 10-second long meme content.
