RRB NTPC 2nd Stage Normalization Process

The Process of equating Marks is called Normalization. We have to know about Raw Score and Average Score before we know about RRB NTPC 2nd Stage Normalization Process.

Raw Score: The initial stage of the calculation of the scores is by calculating the raw score. Raw score means the marks obtained in each section which is calculated by counting the correctly answered marks after applying penalty for wrong answers (1/3 marks). For example if a candidate attended 90 questions, out of which 15 are wrong, then the raw score will be 90-15-15x(1/3) = 75-15=70.

RRB NTPC 2nd Stage Exam Results 2017 Declared Now

Average Score: Suppose 100 peoples appeared for a particular exam. There were 4 sets of question papers with different level of difficulties: Set A, Set B, Set C and Set D.

Suppose all candidates appeared in Set A question paper secured average marks of 60%, similarly in Set B 55%, Set C 70%, and in set D 65%. Now this variation in average marks is because of the difference in difficulty level of different Sets. Set B was the most difficult one that’s why Average Marks in set B is only 55% whereas the set C was the easier one that’s why candidates secured average of 70%. To make it to the same difficulty level they use a method called normalizing the marks.

Here the Average marks will be (60+55+70+65)/4 = 62.5. It means the 60% in set A, 55% in set B, 70% in set C and 65% in set D are equivalent to 62.5% in normalized marks.

Based on RRB Non-Technical Cut Off Marks you will be eligible for further rounds. Candidates who satisfied cut off marks have to appear for Typing Test, Aptitude Test, Document Verification and Medical Fitness Test. The Board will release the final merit list after successful completion of all these stages. Aptitude Test will be conducted only for the Posts Assistant Station Master and Traffic Assistant.
