The Chinese telecommunications equipment manufacturer, Huawei has gained popularity by releasing cheap but elegant smartphones. Huawei has its sub-brand Honor which is launched two years ago. Earlier this year Huawei has launched Honor 5X at CES in Las Vegas. Honor 5X is available for just $199 which packs an impressive design and functionality. Now the brand new Honor 8 is released by the company in China. Pre-orders in China are open for this new smartphone which will go on sale from 19th July.
Huawei Honor 8 is the top-end smartphone in the honor series which packs a 5.2 inch 1920×1080 pixels resolution 2.5D curved glass display. According to the reports posted after the launch event in China, the device will be available in three variants – one which comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB Storage, with a price tag of $300. Next model comes with 4GB RAM and 32GB storage for $343 and the top model is priced $374 with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. A micro SD expansion card slot is included which allows you to add up to 128GB storage.
The device is powered by its own 2.3GHz Kirin 950 octa-core SoC and runs on Android 6 Marshallow with EMUI 4.1. The features include a 12- megapixel dual camera with laser autofocus and 1.76-micron pixels size which resembles the Honor P9, without the Leica branding. Rear cameras come with f/2.2 aperture and are expected to perform effectively in low-light conditions. The device has 8-megapixel front-camera with f/2.4 aperture. Honor 8 will be available in sakura pink, sunrise gold, sapphire blue, midnight black and pearl white colors.
The dimensions of the device are 145.5 x 71 x 7.45 mm and weighs 153 grams. Huawei notes that the smartphone comes with non-removable 3000 mAh battery with fast charging support. But it is not the same as Qualcomm’s Quick Charge.
Finger print sensor, Infrared sensor, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC, USD Type-C and Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz and 5GHz) are included in the Honor 8 model. By comparison, Honor 8 features are almost same as the Honor P9 except the processor as the P9 powered by the new Kirin 955 processor.
