Xiaomi Mi 5C: First Phone to be Powered by its Custom Chipset

Chinese electronic company Xiaomi has joined an elite league of smartphone companies like Apple, Samsung and Huawei, which have their own-in-house chipset on their smartphones called Surge S1. Xiaomi partners with Pinecone to develop the new chipset. After Huawei, Xiaomi is the second Chinese brand to have own processor. Xiaomi Mi 5C is the first ever Xiaomi smartphone to comes with the new processor.

Xiaomi Mi 5C is the successor of Mi 4C which was introduced back in 2015. This phone sports 5.15-inch 1080p display with the resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It is powered by Xiaomi’s own 2.2GHz Octa-Core Surge S1 Processor.

Xiaomi Mi 5C specifications consist of 12MP rear camera with 1.25 μm pixel size and 8MP     front-facing camera. Mi 5C packs Android 7.1 (Nougat) update will be available in March. Mi 5C features includes fingerprint sensor embedded into the home button, 4G LTE support with VoLTE, dual nano SIM slots without a microSD slot, but it has 64 GB internal storage.

This smartphone has unibody metal design weighing just 135 grams, and it packs 2860mAh battery with support for 9V/2A fast charging. Xiaomi Mi 5C comes in Rose Gold, Gold and Black Colors and its price is 1499 yuan. The Mi 5C price in India is Rs 14560 approx. It will go on sale in China from March 3rd.

The company Xiaomi is all gearing up to launch its new flagship Xiaomi Mi 5c. There was a lot of buzzes was doing around for a quite some time. According to the reports from Weibo, the Xiaomi Mi 5c is mostly like to release on 6th December 2016.

Along with Xiaomi Mi 5c launch date details, the images of this new smartphone have also posted on the website. Recently the Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi has launched its new handsets Mi 5S and Mi 5S Plus in China. These devices are the successors of Xiaomi Mi5 that were launched at the MWC 2016 in the month of February.

As per the latest leaks about Xiaomi Mi 5c, it is announced with codename Xiaomi Meri. Unlike its previous Mi 5S and 5S Plus, the Xiaomi Mi 5c is embedded with premium Specifications. The Mi 5c sports a metal body with 2.5D curved glass on the top.

Until now, the reports suggest that the new Xiaomi Mi 5c would be launched in two variants 5.2inch full HD display and 5.5inch HD screen. The Mi 5c is expected to introduce with Xiaomi’s own Pinecone processor, which is likely to be the company’s first processor. The company has used the processor made by Qualcomm and MediaTek till now.

If this turns out to be true, then the Mi 5c would be the first smartphone to be powered by Pinecone chipset. The Pinecone is assumed to be an Octa-core processor which runs at a speed of 2GHz. The Xiaomi Mi 5c smartphone, coupled with 3GB of RAM and may offer the internal storage upto 64GB.

On the software front, the #XiaomiMi5c runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based MIUI 8. In the photography department, the Mi 5c is rumoured to sport a 12-megapixel secondary camera and 8 megapixel selfie camera.

The predicted Xiaomi Mi 5c Price is RMB 1499 (Rs. 14800 approximately). The official launch will held on 6th December 2016 and about the global launch there is no news about the release date.
