India at Rio:

Another disappointing day for Indian athletes. Most dreamt medal from Dipa Karmakar could not turn into reality, as she stood fourth in women’s Vaults finals. However, she proved her best, though there was a tough competition from other winning contestants. But she made India proud and stood as the first female to enter into Gymnasium.

Indian hockey men’s team lost against Belgium 3-1.

Rio Olympics 2016 Day 7 Highlights: With the United States gaining maximum medals in the list, Rio Olympics has seen some world record breakers on Day 7.

Rio Olympics 2016 Day 7 Highlights

Boxing

Vikas Krishna enters quarter finals and is a win away to get a medal for India. 24-year-old Indian boxer has defeated Turkey’s Sipal Onder 3-0 to advance comfortably to the next round of men’s 75KG middleweight boxing.

Tennis

Tennis duo Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna, won their quarters match 6-4 against Britain unseeded pair  Andy Murray and Heather Watson.

The Indian pair seemed to be dominating from the beginning. The pair will be playing in semi-finals, and a bronze medal is sure for India after all the hardships.

Indian shuttlers, singles players Saina Nehwal, P V Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth, made a winning start to their campaign with the opening matches.

After the cheers from boxing and tennis events there lays a long list to get disappointed.

Hockey India team couldn’t turn their 2 point lead into a win. The lower ranked Canadian team held to a 2-2 draw. However in pool b matches hockey team is at 3rd place.

Shooting

Olympic medalist Gagan Narang and Chain Singh couldn’t enter into qualifiers of the 50-meter Rifle event, there by exiting from the event.

Athletics

Indian athletes had a very short journey with Vikas Gowda finishing at 28th place in men’s discuss throw. The same continued with Shot putter Manpreet Kaur and Jinson Johnson.

Badminton

Women’s doubles team  Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa lost to Dutch pairing of Eefje Muskens-Selena Piek 16-21, 21-16, 17-21. This is a second loss to the Indian women’s doubles team. The first was against Indonesian top ranked Indonesian pairing straight sets. This ended the hope of entering quarterfinals.
