Andhra Pradesh Government Signs MoU with Ola to Improve Transportation Services

Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) is shaking hands with Indian online transportation network company, Ola to boost transportation across the state, with both inter-city and intra-city services. Its main aim is to promote tourism and mobility ecosystem in the state.

Tourism plays a very important role in the development of the country economy. To improve the growth of tourism in Andhra Pradesh, the tourism department has undertaken various initiatives to develop Andhra Pradesh as one of the India’s leading tourist destination. With the newly formed state capital – Amaravathi, the state has initiated renewed vision for growth and development across industries and sectors.

With the partnership between Ola and APTDC, Ola is bringing 25,000 job opportunities in the state and encouraging entrepreneurship and sustainable income for the youth over next five years. Ola will provide better experience to millions of tourists and residents by launching into new cities from existing 6 in next 5 years, providing unique mobility solutions.  The Agreement is signed.

The first batch of co-branded Ola and Andhra Pradesh Tourism cars were flagged-off by the AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Secretary- Tourism Mukesh Kumar Meena, CEO-APTA& MD-APTDC Himanshu Shukla. I.A.S, together with Pranay Jivrajka, founding partner, Ola, at MoU signing ceremony in Amaravati.

The partnership would also extended further, and bringing additional offering like electric vehicles, bikes and buses in the sate based on feasibility and regulatory constraints.

On the occasion, Mr. Naidu stated, “Our vision is to make Andhra Pradesh, a model state not just for India but for audiences globally. For this, we are betting heavily on technology-based models across sectors. Partnering with companies such as Ola, which has added a new dimension to transportation in India, is in keeping with this vision. Together, we will be able to provide a reliable commute service to tourists and residents, as well as create job and entrepreneurial opportunities for several thousands.”

Commenting on the partnership, Mukesh Kumar Meena said, “Andhra Pradesh has a rich cultural, religious, and historical background. Streamlining transportation and launching a unique offering for tourists and residents will be of significant benefit. The partnership with India’s most popular platform for ridesharing will also help us train thousands of driver partners become entrepreneurs and play a role in enhancing customer experience.”

Under the ‘Rental’ offering which provides convenient rides based on hourly rates to customers, Ola is planning to create fixed fare packages for main routes in Vijayawada including airport, the secretariat, railway station, Stalin Corp and others. Customers have the option to book cabs from Ola Kiosks set up at various key locations in the city.

Ola-Uber Cab drivers to protest in Delhi-NCR Region from tomorrow

The Ola-Uber strike that undertook in February will get be resumed from Tuesday to Delhi-NCR Region. Though it is a one-day strike as regular taxi and cab drivers are also joining the protest, this would be a huge blow to private transport service sector.

There are approximately 1-5 lakh taxis of Ola and Uber that are in Delhi-NCR Region, and all of them won’t take out the cabs on 18th of April. They decided to walk on roads till they reach CM Arvind Kejriwal’s civil line residence from Majnu ka Tila gurudwara.

As the driver’s demands haven’t yet reached, they are resuming the strike. They are claiming none of the companies or Delhi Government has done anything. Last time in February the strike took place for two whole weeks causing the suffer of lakhs of passengers.

The current protest will also be lead by same drivers Union which initiated the last strike named as Sarvodaya Driver Association of Delhi(SDAD).

Nothing has changed in this two months from February. Drivers are continuing to work for more than 16-18 hours daily but are barely getting paid enough to make a living and pay the car EMI’s. Fares of registered city cabs will be fixed by the government whereas Ola and Uber fix their fares: President, SDAD, Kamaljeet Gill.

Almost a dozen of active transport unions supported this strike. Until now the regular taxis with All India Taxi Permit(AITP) and autorickshaws protested against Ola and Uber claiming they are taking away their earnings.

And drivers of app-based are suffering unable to cope up with the labor they are doing. They are demanding that app-based cabs should have meters and fix the fares based on governments. As both the regular and app based cabs became similar, both got together to fight this time.

Delhi Taxi Tourist Transporters Association, Sanjay Samrat said that Uber and Ola are disregarding the government rules. Uber and Ola are giving away the cars with permits on a small amount of Rs.35000. But as per government rules, vehicles can’t run on the point-to-point basis.

Ola launches Mumbai Darshan service in collaboration with Maharashtra Tourism

Popular car rental service provider Ola has announced ‘Mumbai Darshan’ service. The cab provider has partnered with Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) for this service. This Ola Mumbai Darshan is a guided city tour service for tourists visiting Mumbai.

This Ola Mumbai Darshan provides 100kms or 10 hours rides to 10 Mumbai spots like Juhu Beach, Haji Ali, Marine Drive, Mannat (residence of Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan), Gateway of India, and Siddhivinayak, etc. the company has recently issued a statement in Mumbai on Wednesday.

“Maharashtra continues to be one of the most favored tourist and investment destinations in India. With such a huge economic potential, the scope to provide customized and curated mobility services is truly enormous,” says, Pranay Jivrajka, Ola’s Founding Partner.

The first consignment of this Mumbai Darshan service was flagged-off at an event in Mumbai. This initiative from co-branded Mumbai Darshan and Maharashtra Tourism will serve the tourist best in the limited time bonding.

“Our aim is to create job opportunities and safer transportation choices for people in Maharashtra. We are confident that Ola will actively take ahead our vision of transforming the state into a smart tourism hub,” says, Valsa Nair Singh, Principal Secretary, Tourism, and Culture.

Pranay also said that Ola would work towards enhancing the offering in the coming months. This includes customized tourist map of the city, curated lists of tourist attractions, and things to do and few others.

Ola Play Launched in Hyderabad: Check Out the Details

The Indian Online Transportation Network Company, Ola launched its new car connected service Ola Play in the state of Hyderabad. The newly added service comes with advanced car controls and also provides the users to connect to the interactive services fully. The company launched the service in the month of November last year.

Ola Play is a subscription-based programme where users can get a preferential booking, have the privilege to get discounted prices among others. Hyderabad is the fourth city after the states Mumbai, Bengaluru and Delhi where the company rolled out Ola Play. To provide high-quality interactive experience for its users, the Cab aggregator partnered with Sony LIV, Apple Music, Audio Compass, Fynd, the Viral Fever and All India Bakchod.

The Senior Director and Head of Ola Play, Ankit Jain said, “Ola is defining the future of ridesharing with cutting edge innovations from India. We believe this will enhance the future of automobiles and the mobility experience for millions in the time to come for both customers and driver partners.”

He also added, “With Ola Play, we have brought onboard some of the leading international and national content and technology partners to build a platform that is highly interactive, contextual and intelligent, to offer a truly connected ride sharing experience to our customers.”

Ola aims to provide the half of all the rides for the company on Ola Play enabled cars by the ending of this year. Currently, the company doesn’t roll out for Play service for the Ola Micro and Mini. However, in the month of January 2017, Ola launched the Play service for the users who booked sedan under the category of Prime.

Reliance Jio plans to charge Rs. 100 for data and voice services after 31st March

In a speech, Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani said they are going to buy 2000 cars of Toyota Etios in Kolkata to begin the project. The cars are said to have 4G connections and use complete compressed natural gas from RIL’s own fuel stations for the refill. They are going to charge Rs 4 to Rs 5 for kilometers less than Ola and uber. It will take some time to complete this project.
