Whatsapp planning to launch peer-to-peer payments in six months.

WhatsApp, one of the most downloaded smartphone application was founded by Brian Acton and Jan Koum and later took over by Facebook. WhatsApp is currently recruiting the head of all the digital transactions and UPI maintenance, Aadhaar system, and BHIM transactions. The Ken, publisher reported this first. Idea to launch ‘Digital Idea’ Movies, Music, TV, Gaming Apps

The War of Telcos continues to Prevail after Jio extending it’s preview offer. To counter Reliance Jio, another telecom giant Airtel came up with a free internet plan for 12 months. Now it’s Birla’s Idea Network’s turn to counter Jio.

Following the foot steps of Reliance Jio,Idea Cellular network is planning to launch its digital Idea app suite, which contains different apps similar to that of Jio Apps. The Telecom Network had rolled out media invites for the event on 30th of January.

The Aditya Birla’s Telco is in thought that with these apps and a host of pre-loaded media streaming will provide higher data consumption by the user.

The higher the data used by the user, the more revenue can be achieved from the data services. Idea cellular is looking to get strengthened in the app department where Reliance Jio is leading the market followed by Airtel. Jio has JioMags, JioXpressNews, JioNewspaper whereas Airtel has Wynk Music and Wynk Movies.

BSNL DataMail: Process to get email ids in 8 Indian languages explained

The Indian state-owned telecommunications company, BSNL announced that they are providing email addresses in eight regional languages. The company has partnered with Jaipur-based DataMail app which can download on any Android and iOS devices.

In line with government’s vision of making India cashless, BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) is offering free email services to its broadband users by launching DataMail service. From now onwards BSNL broadband users will be able to open the email ID in their regional language.

“BSNL is also known for its network in the rural and remote India, especially in 2G and 3G data. Launching free linguistic Email address service for its millions of customers is another definite step in fulfilling the dream of digital India taken by the Govt. of India Enterprise, BSNL,” said a release.

According to the Indian Telecom Services Performance Indicator Report released by TRAI, the total internet users in India are about 350.48 million. This estimated number is just 30 percent of the India’s population and remaining 70% is not having access mostly living in rural areas.

A few months back, Government of India introduced .bharat domain in Indian languages to increase the reach of internet users. With the aim to cover around 70% of the country’s population living in remote areas, the government introduced the domain.

How to get the Datamail :

  • BSNL broadband subscribers can download the DataMail from both Android (Play Store) and iOS (App Store) devices.
  • The user has to select the respective regional language for the email ID.
  • Tap the tick mark on checkbox ‘I am a broadband customer’.
  • Enter your mobile number.
  • Soon after that, you will receive the OTP via SMS on your registered phone number.
  • Now type the email address which you want to use in your own language.

This DataMail service is the world’s first application which supports Indian languages. As per the reports, most spoken languages in India are:

  • Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, Gujarati, Kannada, Punjabi and Assamese.

Vodafone launches M-Pesa Pay: Encouraging Merchants to go Digital

Telecom giant Vodafone has announced the launch of Vodafone M-Pesa PAY on Tuesday. M-Pesa PAY is a digital payment solution for retailers and merchants to receive cashless payments from customers. This move from the telecom operator is another initiative towards digital payments drive in India. Many new schemes and digital payment methods were observed in the country with the recent demonetization effect.

Vodafone says that the merchants and retailers should download the Vodafone M-Pesa app in their mobiles for using it. The app offers payments and money transfer options to users for a while, and then they register themselves as a merchant. The app also allows merchants to notify individual customers to make payments. Customers also get a notification which let them make payment with their bank account, wallet balance, debit card or credit card.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) increased the limit on e-wallets to Rs 20,000 from Rs 10,000 last month. The limit is extended up to Rs 50000 for merchants and up to Rs 1 Lakh for consumers who have given their KYC details.
