WhatsApp update for Android users will now get support for all types of file transfers which include archives as well. Also, this new feature extends support for bundled media sharing on WhatsApp. This file transfer support was seen in the earlier released beta version and is now rolled out to the stable app.

The latest version of WhatsApp is now available for download in Google Play. Besides the file transfer support, the latest WhatsApp’s update comes with text formatting in the chat. Users can now tap and hold to select the text and easily select bold, strikethrough, or italicize while typing text in a chat window. The feature was first available in the beta version and now made its presence in the new version.

Google, Facebook, WhatsApp and Amazon to support UPI-based Payments

Recently, WhatsApp has started testing all types of file transfers support on Android, iPhone, and Windows platforms with a limited number of users. Last month, several beta users started receiving new shared media bundling feature.

Like never before, users can send a bunch of photos to their friends, and they’ll receive them bundled as an album. Once a user opens an album, one after another all images are shown on a single page. The feature also hints the WhatsApp move to promote shared photos. This WhatsApp file transfer support was rolled out for iPhone users last month and refines the sharing of multiple photos.

New WhatsApp update for Android users gets a minor change to the WhatsApp call screen. WhatsApp video call users will have to swipe up now instead of sideways to pick up a call. This revamped WhatsApp call screen was also noticed last month.
