Recently, American Heart Association conducted a study which contained participants ranging between 18 to 40 years. These participants were asked to consume 32 ounces of commercial energy drinks available at the center on 3 days.

These drinks were supposed to be consumed within a span of 1 hour, with certain restrictions implied by the  experts( only 16 ounces of drinks were supposed to be consumed in a span of 30 minutes).

After this the participant’s heart rate was measured by the electrocardiogram( a tool that measures the way the heart beats). Additionally, their blood pressure was also recorded.

Interestingly the beverages had contained approximately 320 milligrams of caffein for every 32 ounces of liquid.

Researchers also discovered a significant increase in systolic and diastolic blood pressure in participants who consumed the energy drinks.

“We urgently need to investigate the particular ingredient or combination of ingredients in different types of energy drinks that might explain the findings seen in our clinical trial,” said Sachin A Shah, a coveted professor at the University of the Pacific.
