After two long years of wait, Netflix’s awful experience on the Android TV is finally addressed. We have great news for people who were looking for Android TV’s universal search feature in Netflix. According to Android Twitter account and Goggle+ posts, it is clear that Android TV’s universal search feature is now available for Netflix. This enables users to search through Netflix’s collection. So, with this update we can say that Android TV seeing improvements over the time.

Surprisingly, Apple and Roku streaming devices have similar features like universal search which is now acquired by Netflix. Looking back it’s just been a couple of days, the giant Apple has announced a number of 3rd party apps that Siri can search through on Apple TV. Now, Google connects Android TV’s Universal Search to Netflix which makes it easy to search movies and shows from Netflix’s library.

The screenshots of the new feature demonstrates the search on Netflix. When someone searches for a show on Netflix, a card comes up with a cover image, description and link to open the app. And then, an image from the show covers the background. On scrolling down user can see the cast list. This interface is brought up when searching from anyplace in the Android TV.

Currently, we have no updates available for Netflix Android TV App. And it is unclear whether this universal search integration compels an update of the app or it is activated to server-side.

Netflix is presently facing many challenges, but analysts strongly believe that these challenges can be fixed with the long-term policies of the company. According to Cantor Fitzgerald analyst, Youssef Squali - Headwinds such as the Rio Olympics in August will divert attention for a time, and the company faces tougher year-over-year comparisons and the “un-grandfathering” of the $7.99 plan in the second half of the year.
