Audi’s most popular sedan has made its debut in the country with diesel power. The new generation Audi A4 35 TDi has been unveiled in India at a price of ₹ 40.20 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The diesel version shares the same evolutionary styling and features of the petrol version launched last year.
New Audi A4 diesel gets power from the 2.0-litre diesel engine mostly observed in Volkswagen range in India. The motor produces 190 hp of power and churns out 400 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to 7-speed S Tronic automatic transmission and drives power to front wheels. The new generation Audi A4 diesel claims 7 per cent more power and fuel efficiency over its predecessor. Based on the Volkswagen’s modular MLB platform, A4 diesel is 120 kg lighter than the older model.
The lighter weight results in attaining 0-100 kmph in just 7.7 seconds and a great fuel efficiency of 18.25 km. The 17-inch Tornado design alloy wheels add some more style to Audi A4. The luxury sedan marks top speed at 237 kmph and comes with four driving options – Auto, Dynamic, Comfort, and Individual.
The new generation Audi A4 diesel gets the same petrol variant styling. You observe a bolder front with reworked headlamp cluster sporting the kink at the corner. The diesel variant comes with LED headlamps and dynamic turn indicators on the rear.
On interior font, the conventional instrument cluster is replaced by 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit with two display modes. Apple CarPlay, MMI Navigation Plus, and Android Auto compatibility are equipped along with 180 watts Audi 10 speaker sound system, wireless charging and much more.
Demand for diesel cars still exists in India even though the market has moved back to petrol engines. The Audi A4 diesel will fill that gap and competes with other likes in the segment. Recently, the Audi has launched the A3 Cabriolet facelift in India and is expected to launch more in India.
