The state-run telecom network provider, BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) joined in the list of offering free Unlimited Local and STD calls. BSNL Karnataka Circle announced its New Plan Voucher for both prepaid and postpaid customers.

Under this offer, with a recharge of Rs. 144, subscribers can avail Unlimited Local and STD Calls. This pack offers free calls for the first 30 days and which comes with a validity of 180 days. Users can avail 300MB data and this BSNL offer valid only in BSNL Karnataka Circle.

BSNL Offers: 1 Hour Talk Time For 1 Rupee

Along with this promotional offer, company also introduced another BSNL offer at the time of taking new BSNL connection. Upon recharge with Rs. 439, users can avail free unlimited calls for three months. As per the fair usage policy, calls to other network limited to half an hour per day.

By recharging with Rs. 144, subscribers can avail

  • All voice calls (Local/STD) (on net/off net) free for first 30 days for new connections.
  • All Local and STD calls (on net/off net) at 80paise per minute for Video & Voice (home and national roaming) call charge.
  • This plan comes with a validity of 180 days.
  • Local SMS charges at 50paise/SMS.
  • SMS charge (national roaming) at 25paise/SMS (local) and 38paise/SMS (STD).
  • Data will charge at 3paise/10KB.

BSNL CMD Anupam Shrivastava said “This offer is also available at one month plan, but users have to pay Rs 149 for free voice calls. This promotional offer is applicable from January 24th, all new customers and users of other operators can join into the BSNL under number portability.

He also said customers are coming forward to get our service which has helped us to increase our market share by 1% since March 2015 even in the hyper-competitive telecom services market.

BSNL Free voice calls :State owned telecom Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited is planning to launch free voice service for lifetime starting January 2017. The plans would be cheaper than the recently announced Reliance Jio Tariffs.

This step from BSNL is targetted to expand the user base across the country, excluding Delhi and Mumbai where MTNL services are available. This move may also force other telecom operators such as Vodafone, Airtel, and Idea Cellular to slash tariffs and offer free voice calls.

BSNL will offer services to both 2G and 3G users without any bias knowing fact that majority of the population is still using 2G and 3G services. Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio embraces services only for 4G users.

“We are closely observing the market as well as Jio’s performance. We will also come up with lifetime free-voice plans from the new year as part of fresh offerings. We plan to be even lower than the Jio plan, and this could be by Rs 2-4,” says, Anupam Shrivastava, BSNL Managing Director and Chairman.

BSNL has a significant share in mobile subscriptions in many key markets like Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Haryana, Odisha, UP, and Punjab. Zero-voice-tariff plans yet to be announced will be lower than Rs. 149 which is said to be the entry price for Jio.

The free-voice facility is also available for a subscriber when he/she uses the connection outside his residence. The main idea behind the plan is to make use of their home broadband to re-direct their mobile outgoing calls through landlines.
