Patna Express Accident:13 coaches of Vasco Da Gama-Patna express derailed on Friday morning at 4.18 a.m. The accident which occurred at the Manikpur station in Chitrakoot district of Uttar Pradesh. The Train was travelling from Goa to Patna. At least three people have died, and many were injured.

While talking about the accident Railway Ministry spokesperson Anil Saxena stated that”Three people have died and about seven persons. All the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.”

The derailed coaches of Vasco Da Gama-Patna express includes S3, S4, S5, S6, S7, S8, S9, S10, S11 along with two extra sleeper coaches and two general coaches. Rescue operations have started, and Railway Minister Piyush Goyal is monitoring the situation, Saxena added.

North Central Railway spokesperson Amit Malviya said that a train with the remaining passengers left for Patna at 7.25 a.m. from Manikpur. Additional Director General (Law and Order) Anand Kumar said the derailment occurred due to a fracture in the railway tracks.

Two of the victims were identified as Deepak Patel and his father Ram Swaroop from Betia, Bihar. The third person succumbed to his injuries later. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal announced compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the passenger who lost their lives dead in the accident.1 lakh rupees for those with grievous injuries and Rs 50,000 for those injured.
