A train mishap took place near Ludhiana Station. Jhelum Express got derailed and nearly 10 coaches of the train have been off the track.

Today early in the morning the accident took place. Though there are not death casualties, there are reports that 3 injuries occurred to the passengers travelling in the train. Immediate measures have been taken up by the railways to minimize further problems. Railway traffic got stagnated due to this incident.

Trains have been cancelled on both ways in this route due to this incident. Majorly three trains that run on these tracks Jalandhar-New Delhi Intercity Express, Amritsar- New Delhi Intercity Express, Amritsar-Haridwar Janshatabdi Express and Amritsar-Chandigarh Superfast Express have been cancelled.

Additional Director General (ADG) of Railways Anil Saxena has immediately ordered for rescue operations. Medical aid and other facilities have been provided for the needed passengers on board.

ADG has also stated that alternate arrangements have been made for the remaining passengers to make their journey complete. Jhelum Express was on its way to Patna from Jammu. The incident took place in Punjab.

The derailed coaches were removed from the spot and moved to the shed. The Engine along with other coaches have been moved to the next station Ludhiana.

Though there is no word yet about the reasons for the accident happening, it is usually expected from the largest network in the world to order an enquiry.

The train track repair and other related works are on the way to restore train traffic in the route. Hopefully the travel on this route will be restored as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Firozpur Divisional Railway Manager along with other senior officials has reached the spot. Everyone was thankful that there is no loss of life and almost all the passengers are safe. This has once again raised the issue of Railway safety as mentioned in the budget every year.
