The Facebook-owned messaging app, WhatsApp is introducing a new feature to its WhatsApp status. Instead of using the boring WhatsApp status you can update the WhatsApp status multiple times a day.
Whatsapp latest feature is inspired by Snapchat’s feature as you can express yourself using a short video which looks like Instagram stories. You can share videos, photos, and GIFs as your status. Your status will be visible to all your contacts by default.
Whatsapp Status update will disappear after 24 hours. This status combines three existing features: broadcast lists, media sharing, and status.

The latest implementation is adding more social networking capabilities to the traditional messaging app like you can broadcast regular updates to your friends, and they can share their comments or reactions. The reply sends by your friend to status updates are only visible to you in your chat, with a message that indicates which status updates they are replying to.
Whatsapp Product Manger Randall Sarafa said that the new feature could “encourage users to update their status more frequently.” He also explained, “You will be able to see status updates only from those on your contact list, and only those who you engage with regularly will show up.”
Sarafa said the idea behind the change is to get the user to share stuff with people “without thinking about which chat window to share it with.” Instead of using the traditional method like picking a chat and then triggering the camera, you can shoot first and figure out the sharing option later.

The latest Status feature gets a tab of its own, in between chats and calls. If you are using stories feature like Snapchat or Instagram, it is easy to create Status messages.
You will see the various groups in Status tap like My Status, Recent updates and Viewed Updates. In My Status, you can see the most recent Whatsapp status. Recent Update shows latest WhatsApp status messages of your friends have created in the last 24 hours. Viewed Updates, which is self-explanatory and muted, it lists updates from users you’ve muted. If you delete the Whatsapp status, it will be deleted from all your contacts.
This feature will be rolled out in Europe and will come to other countries, including India soon. Whatsapp Status Feature is available on Android, iOS and Windows Phone.
