The March attack against Sergei Skripal in Salisbury has caused the US to expel around sixty assumed Russian spies. As a part of the global reply, for the use of a nerve agent, the United States has publicized that it will impose boundaries restriction on the export of delicate technology to Russia. This incident came to light when a rare and powerful nerve agent, Novichock, was used to kill a former Colonel in Russian Military Intelligence along with his daughter last March in Britain. Novichok is a series of nerve agents technologically advanced by the Soviet Union and Russia between 1971 and 1993. Russian scientists claim they are the deadliest nerve agents ever finished, with some modifications they are possibly five to eight times stronger than VX and others up to ten times more effective than Soman.

The Kremlin has fervently rejected the British charges about the attacks. Since the March attack, two other residents from the Salisbury zone have been poisoned by the so-called Novichok. Dawn Sturgess died in July after managing a small bottle polluted by the infamous nerve agent on 30 June. Her partner, Charlie Rowley, was also taken ill after he was accidently visible to the nerve agent.

The US state department said that the new sanctions will be coming into effect from August 22, 2018. The strict sweeping measures will come into action and diplomatic relations will mostly be suspended with Russia if remedial action is not taken with a period of 90 days. A senior administration official said, “Certainly is really up to Russia to make that decision, whether they meet this criterion. The second round of sanctions … are in general more draconian than the first round.”

However, presently Moscow is not yet anticipated to shake hands with the response that US legislation has given. This comprises the opening up Russian security and scientific services to international checkups to measure whether it is producing biological and chemical weapons in defilement of international law.
