The famous online transportation network company Uber is taking creative steps to expand their business in the county. While announcing its new initiative “ UberShaan ” in India, the company has asked ex-servicemen to join as driver partners with them and also announced that to provide best economic opportunities to the post-retirement people.

The CEO of Uber Travis Kalanick made this announcement during the launch of UberShaan initiative in Delhi in the wake of its third-anniversary celebrations in India.

Travis Kalanick said, “The UberShaan initiative is all about allowing the ex-servicemen as driver partners and proving support to their families and also afford a chance for those to get to know India’s veterans better.”

However, to recognize and offer best post-retirement opportunities to the ex-servicemen, Uber has tied up with Ministry of Defence to help interested candidates join the Uber platform as driver partners. Kalanick also honored some drivers those who gave the best service to the county in their career.

UberShaan Programme was launched in September this year in association with Maruti and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) for making a source of revenue for one million people by 2018. Under the initiative, the renowned online transportation company will provide access to skill development and driver training to the untrained persons. Not only this, but the company can also aid trained drivers to offer commercial licenses, vehicle financing, and leasing solutions.

India is the largest market for Uber after the United States and accounts for 12% of all Uber trips globally. Uber is also getting ready to launch motor-bike taxis called “UberMoto” in Hyderabad from next month. Hyderabad will be the third city after Bengaluru and Gurgram to get the motorbike taxi service in India.

In this year, the US-based company launched service in two cities Lucknow and Ludhiana and also expanded “UberPOOL” to four new cities such as Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Chennai.
