Thupparivaalan Movie Review: Director Mysskin is back with a world class action thriller, Thupparivaalan. A part from Vishal, the film is packed with a bandwagon of stars like Rakul Preet Singh, Anu Emmanuel, Prasanna, Vinay, and others. Thupparivaalan movie is a lot more inspired by Sherlock Holmes. However, it’s not so easy to give audiences such kind of experience.

Thupparivaalan is all about a clever crime plot with emotional sub plot. Director Mysskin showed Vishal in a completely different way. Vishal wears a sober face and has a wacky mannerism throughout the film. The film is produced by S. Nandhagopal under Vishal Film Factory. Music is composed by Arrol Corelli. The film also features Andrea Jeremiah, Rakul Preet Singh and Anu Emmanuel in the lead roles.
Thupparivaalan Story Plot & Review:
The film revolves around an intelligent detective Kaniyan Poongundran played by Vishal. Kaniyan refuses to take up a case of an arrogant rich man’s daughter for huge money of Rs 50 lakhs. Instead, he agrees to investigate a dog’s murder case which was approached by an innocent kid. The kid offers his pocket money as a fee to Kaniyan. However, Kaniyan accepts to take up this case which leads to several mysterious and unsolved crimes involved.
The plot takes its own time to establish each of the characters. The initial screen play becomes the core of the plot. The bad guys in Thupparivaalan are very violent and straight up psychopaths. Anu Emmanuel plays the pickpocket named Mallika. She is the love interest of Kaniyan in the movie. Actor Prasanna is very convincing in this film as the Watson-like foil to the master detective. Andrea Jeremiah is among the baddies in the film; she puts up a good fight with Kaniyan near the climax is the plus.
Thupparivaalan Public Response:
As mentioned earlier, Thupparivaalan is a world class action film, especially the 20 minutes climax scenes which are shot in Pichaavaram took the movie to another level. Another fight sequence with Chinese stuntmen gave goose bumps to audiences. Though there is no separate comedy track in the film, Mysskin provides decent humour throughout the film.

Thupparivaalan Movie Highlights & Rating:
Thupparivaalan marks Vishal’s best film till date. He lived up the role of playing the perfect detective in the movie. No other Tamil actor can pull off the role Kaniyan Poongundran like Vishal, be his mannerisms, stunts, dialogue delivery, and body language.
The background score of Arrol Corelli is the biggest asset of the film. Cinematography by Karthik Venkatraman is the highlight of the movie mainly in action sequences.
- Action Sequences
- Screen play
- Unnecessary sub plots
Thupparivaalan Rating: 3.5/5
Final Verdict: Thupparivaalan is a solid watch for the weekend. Go and enjoy!
