Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj fired on popular e-commerce company Amazon, after found to be selling doormats containing the Indian flag. The minister took her twitter and asked Amazon to apologize. She also warned the Amazon officials that she would cancel the Visas if they won’t say apologize.

Sushma Tweeted, “Amazon must say apology. They must withdraw all products insulting our national flag immediately. If this is not done, we will not grant Indian visa to any Amazon official. We will also cancel the Visas issued earlier.”

Meanwhile, after four hours of Sushma Swaraj tweets, Amazon Canada removed the ‘offensive products’ from its collection, with the product pages showing up a ‘page not found’ error. The products were missing from Amazon Canada search results as well. An Amazon representative told, “The Item is no longer for sale on the site.”

Sushma Swaraj Speech at UN General Assembly

Earlier, a user though twitter brought the news of Amazon Canada was selling doormats containing the Indian flag to Sushma Swaraj attention. So, however a simple search on Amazon Canada verified this claim a few minutes after the tweets, though the products were later removed from Amazon’s site.

A notable point is that Amazon is a marketplace and is not directly involved in selling all goods on its website and the products in question look to have been listed by a third-party seller on Amazon Canada. The External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj also spoke with the Indian high commission in Canada to look about the issue with Amazon.
