On Monday, the Supreme Court makes an announcement about fixing the timeline for the recruitment of Police posts. The vacancies include Sub Inspectors (SI), Head Constables and Constables in the States of Bihar, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
The court with its April 19 order, asked all the six states of Home Secretaries to present the roadmap for the recruitment of filling vacancies before it. And the court also said that they would monitor filling the vacant positions. It also asked the Home Secretaries of Jharkhand and Bihar to come again due to their inappropriate response.
Karnataka has given the road map of the recruitment process and also said that they would fill all the police vacancies by the year 2019. According to the reports, the total number of jobs that are to be filled in the respective states
- Uttar Pradesh- 150,679 vacancies
- Bihar- 34,532 vacancies
- Jharkhand- 26,037 vacancies
- West Bengal– 37,325 vacancies
- Karnataka- 24,388 vacancies
- Tamil Nadu– 19,804 vacancies
The Chief Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar and Justice D.Y.Chandrachud has also made clear that once the recruitment is confirmed no changes should be done from issuing the notification to holding the exam. As mentioned that the court will monitor filling the vacancies they will first focus on the Uttar Pradesh followed by Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
