What is Saubhagya Scheme
Pradhan Mantri Saubhagya is a Rs 16,320 Cr project which is designed to electrify every household by the end of Dec 31, 2018. According to the information, the Saubhagya Electricity scheme ‘s main Target is to provide electricity connections to over four crore families in India.
Government’s prestigious scheme the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana so far has electrified 78% of 18,000 villages. Although the Central Government has taken quick measures for electrifying India, the problem hasn’t resolved to the core.

PM’s Saubhagya Scheme announcement can also help BJP as only a few months left for the crucial assembly elections in Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, and Karnataka
Under the scheme, free connections will be provided to households below poverty line (BPL). Families who are not under this category can avail connection just by paying Rs 500 in 10 installments of Rs50 along with their monthly bill. Mobile applications will be used to ensure spot registration under the Saubhagya scheme
